What started off as an early battle between the kickers turned into a Denver blowout, as the Broncos secured a 27-6 victory over the Browns with some late scoring Sunday at Invesco Field. The Browns' offense never found a spark to ignite, while the Broncos finally discovered a flair with both their passing and running games with two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Until then, both teams had relied heavily on kickers, as the Browns' Phil Dawson knocked in three field goals while Denver's Matt Prater kicked two -- and missed two within 40 yards -- while keeping the score close.
In the fourth quarter, however, Denver quarterback Kyle Orton connected with receiver Jabar Gaffney for a 49-yard touchdown pass, finally revealing the abiliy to make a big play. On the Broncos next offensive series, running back Correll Buckhalter broke free for a 45-yard touchdown run -- dragging Browns cornerback Eric Wright the final seven yards into the end zone.
The Browns offense, meanwhile, couldn't find a spark beyond Braylon Edwards, who caught six passes for 92 yards. Quarterback Brady Quinn was pressured and rushed time and again, and Denver defensive end Elvis Dumervil recorded four sacks -- tying a Denver franchise high for a single game. Quinn completed 18-of-30 passes for 161 yards.
The Browns had just 11 first downs throughout the game.
Denver quarterback Orton completed 19-of-37 passes for 263 yards.
Brady Quinn 2009 numbers
39/66 366 yards 1 TD 2 interceptions 2 lost fumbles
