He's a victim, it's not bad publicity when everyone that's not completely ******** can see it for what it is

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

If our special teams coverage units don't look terrific in camp/preseason, I'm all for bringing Keith back.

When he goes elsewhere, he's just a backup safety with limited talent who might help you on special teams. He's the kind of guy who is valuable to the Cowboys because he has skins on the wall in our locker-room. This gives him a license to "bark" and allows for the young guys to follow his lead.

He isn't at the 50 yard line for the pre-game coin toss for no reason. He's terrific at what he does and the whole team notices.

Reminds me of the Zach Thomas dynamic... he couldn't usurp any sort of leadership role from any other Cowboys veteran, so he had to keep his mouth shut and couldn't be the "leader" the Cowboys thought they were signing.

I've been to plenty of nightclubs with zero bullet holes. Don't put words in my mouth.

Ok let's take him of out the club and say stick him at a school (bullets have rang out at schools) is he now a troublemaker?

This discussion is eerily reminiscent of the thread where Four disputed the Ellis quotes.

Things don't go well when someone takes an extreme position and refuses to modify it even when folks make very valid counters.

So be it... :)

I refuse to modify my position given what I've observed of Keith Davis and what has happened. These other people are OK with what happened to him. Ever heard of Karma?

Does this kill the compensation for Chris Canty next year? (I think it does)

Bullets have been fired at schools, but the probability of being shot at a nightclub is a lot higher.

He was shot once outside of a strip club picking up a friend of a friend..

The 2nd time was when he was on the highway in a drive by..

Is he looking for a trouble or is he in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Also, you still haven't explained how his shootings negatively impacted the Cowboys.

Ever heard of;

bad luck
wrong place wrong time
jealously
envy
greed

Any of those things could cause a man to be shot. You ever think that he was trying to be killed by someone and since the first attempt failed they attempted again. I applaud Keith for surviving two different attempts on his life and keep on playing in the NFL

So going to a night club makes you a trouble maker?

we're going to have to cut more then half the team including our QB if that's the case

With the Cowboys putting a heavier emphasis on coverage there's no chance he comes back.

Excellent point, plus the drafting of DeAngelo Smith and Mike Hamlin makes it cost efficient for the club! That's a two for one deal!

So jut because the CHANCES are higher doesn't make him bad for being there and doesn't make it his fault.

I love Keith Davis, and I won't be as definitive as Jon88 is being, but the odds of someone randomly getting shot on TWO separate occasions (after leaving nightclubs both times) is pretty freakin' low.

If it only happened once, I'd be a lot more open-minded. People do get shot randomly. But twice...? Two completely separate occasions? Sorry, I can't buy that. That would be cartoonish Al Bundy-level "bad luck".

Smart money says Davis incited the shootings, or at least one of them.

Of course I'm not implying that he deserved to be shot, but like Steve McNair... he was likely doing something that he shouldn't have been doing, and ended up pissing off the wrong lunatic.

Who in all honsty hasn't pissed someone off? Pissing off a troublemaker doesn't make you a troublemaker

hate to break this to ya NAV but you don't have to do ANYTHING wrong to piss off a lunatic. Just crossing his line of sight could do it.

Well that's bad luck. If the two made headlines, it was bad publicity for Dallas.

I'll give Keith Davis a break and if we have a spot I would like to see him here.

I've heard of people getting struck by lightning more then once, one dude was struck 7 different times

Some people just have really crappy luck, and since we know nothing about what went on with Davis the only reasonable thing to do is assume he's one of those people

By your logic the collapse of the practice dome makes everyone inside a troublemaker.

Bad publicity due to unsafe streets in Dallas does not make him a troublemaker
