He really has. Not just bad on the field, but dangerous and damaging off of it as well. Gruden has driven that train off the rails in under a year's time. And it's always the players' fault at every turn. Just throw another one under the bus and move on. Lather, rinse, repeat. Oh, and just lose baby!

Carr will get his eventually too. Guden is a failed quarterback and hates every quarterback not named Rich Gannon that he's ever had. None of them can ever do the job as well as he thinks he can.
Gruden actually believed that Booger could replace Sapp. And that Chris Simms was a starting quality QB. He screwed up that TB team badly.

You remember what they were clamoring about Simms? "He'll be a better pro than college QB!!!"

That doesn't even make sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They owe Gruden $90 million, not to mention the fees to the NFL for moving to Vegas. They're stuck with him.

He's Garrett-esque guaranteed.
hired mercenaries NEVER WORK...Parcels always said beware of a guy making claims he "is here to turn it all around" NO 1 HC or player should be given that kind free reign and power. Its the 1 sure way to bring a franchise to its knees.

Raiders are in head coach HELL for what they gave away to Gruden. Going to take 15 years to recover.

truth be told...theres internal talk already about ways to unload Gruden now.
No joke?

Wow, that is one dumb franchise. You give a guy that much, you must give him 3 years to turn it around.

This is like people who dump their stocks when the market is low. Dumber'n dirt.

Belechek has that kind of free reign in NE............Jimmy Johnson had it when he first arrived in Dallas. There are no absolutes in this regard as long as the guy making the decisions has a vision and is good at his job.

Parcels wasn't a hired mercenary in Dallas? Sure he made no bold public proclamations but the whole world knew he was here to turn it all around.

The biggest knock on Gruden over the years was that he won in Tampa but with Tony Dungy's team. He never got full credit and I have a feeling that may be in the back of his mind as he unloads guys who aren't "his guys". He wants to win on his terms and with his team, and he's got the job security to pull it off. Time will tell if he's successful. Jimmy got off to a 1-15 start AND traded our best player. So, Gruden's script isn't original.

Gruden is out to prove he can destroy a team in more ways than just coaching. And to think people wanted this guy in big D.

Depends on what you prefer

The quich death = Gruden

The slow painful suffering = Garrett

Indeed that's a trainwreck from HELL. What the FO has done there is bet the bank literally on Gruden. They are stuck paying ALL his salary. Its fully guaranteed. He is basically holding the team ransom....but it takes 2 to tango as they say. Shame on the Raiders for buying the fools gold and hype.

Isn't this Gruden's first season? I'm not saying you're wrong, but that could be said about Jimmy Johnson during his first season as well. More so since he didn't have any track record in the NFL.

the premiss of why they struck a deal to hire Gruden was because they thought they had a stud QB in carr to build the team around. Gruden LOVES CARR. Or so we are told time and again by Chuckie himself. He tore apart the D...which had maybe THE best DE/OLB in football...let him walk instead of working with him. He seems lost play calling...dunno but it sure seems like an awful lot to hand the keys to the kingdom to a guy that's been outta the game for as long as he. either the FO is a savant, or they just solidified the losing for the next 5 years,

It looks like he is going into rebuild mode. In my personal opinion they didn't need to do that, just get some of the pieces back that they had in 2016, but hey, I'm not in charge. That said, the last thing they need is a DE with a giant contract during a rebuild. He'd be taking up a ton of cap space and be useless until it's complete. That's a lot of wasted money in the 2-4 year period they are probably looking at.

Amari Cooper coming here is a classic Jerry Jones move. I just hope it's for a 4th or less

They will be shopping for a new HC before long. Gruden has been a disaster.

Maybe, but a lot of people said that about Jimmy Johnson in year one of the rebuild. He was a country bumpkin that was making a mockery of the Dallas Cowboys. The Herschel Walker trade was a sin for the fans.

Not many are saying that now about Jimmy.

Truth be told, Jimmy didn't do much after bailing on the Cowboys.

My feeling is Gruden will be fired after year 5 and only held on to that long because of the amount of money involved. Maybe he even gets kicked upstairs to the front office. He has really done very little in his coaching career and has been out of the game for a long time.
