Seeing how teams are always looking to get better, who do you guys like on other teams practice squads? I was always enamored with Sam Montgomery even though Houston booted him off their team for smoking marijuana in his room. I know he has not done much in the league but I think he could add a little passrush from the DE spot. I would like to see Dallas cut Lavar Edwards as he has not provided anything in the rotation despite the team needing a boost from the DE position. I think this move might not pay immediate dividends but he might provide valuable snaps after practicing for about 4 weeks. He does have talent and was once projected to be a first round pick. He could turn into another Rolondo McClain if he is willing to put in the work. I also like Michael Sam on our practice squad, but Dallas does not have to promote him as no other team seems to want him. I do think Michael Sam is capable of contributing right now and do not understand why he is not on the active roster. I do think he offers more pass rush than Jack Crawford who is receiving significant snaps.

So who would you guys cut and who would you like to bring in?

Well I for one will be very happy when they cut Michael Sam and he is out of the league completely. As he is holding up a spot for someone that is a real good player. He benefitted from a very good defense in college

He's only holding a PS spot not a 53 spot. If the coaches didn't like what they see he would be gone also.

He has talent, bring him in for a cup of coffee and see if he has learned his lesson. Keep churning that roster turn over every former first round rock. Roll the dice, stakes are small but reward could be big.

The Cowboys weren't interested in Montgomery in the draft and they weren't interested in him after he was released. I doubt they will ever be interested in him. They know Les Miles.

I'm surprised Baltimore or Carolina haven't picked up Ryan Williams yet

People need to get rid of the Michael Sam stuff, there is a reason why he is on the PS and Edwards or whoever is on the active roster. When, and if it's time, it will happen. I would bet he will not see any snaps this year, but be given every chance to win an active roster spot next year. And I'm perfectly fine with that. Because it means the guys we have active now, are healthy, and playing decent.

Out of the league completely? Theres a lot of players on alot of teams that are far less talented still in the league, seems a little harsh.

I trust Will McClay so will take what we have now.

As to Sam: I think they have it right. He needs to get stronger and develop but he has more NFL potential than a lot of guys we've run through our PS.
And he's definitely a better football player than many of the guys we've suited up at the very bottom of depth charts hoping they'd eventually develop.
While I would have activated him week 2 and 3 before Spencer came back I can see why they felt he'd have been a disaster versus the run and they had to get that stopped to compete at all.

Edwards only played 1 games and then injured his knee. Also, he came from a 3-4 team and needs time in the 4-3 system. He gained weight as a 3-4 DE and will be better at a lower weight as a 4-3 DE.

Sam Montgomery was on the list of LSU players that were called out by the Strength coach for being lazy. He was cut in Houston, despite being a 3rd round pick, because he is a knucklehead.

Lavar Edwards had better 10 and 40 times at the combine than Montgomery while outweighing Montgomery by 15 pounds.

More than one report indicates that if a DE was called up from the practice squad that it would be Boatright, not Sam. They say Sam is raw development wise.

Jack Crawford played more on the Strong Side in the Saints game. Sam and Montgomery are smallish for the Strong Side.

Who is the great player that he's holding up while being on the practice squad?

So he was voted SEC defensive player of the year just because he played on a good defense?

I'm fine with developing Edwards and giving him a shot but he looked slow and unathletic in game 1. Slow off the ball and stood straight up. Spencer looked like that and he had knee surgery so maybe you are onto something here.

It's easy to spot the non-football related reservations people have. That dude needs to find his way over to the rant zone.
