Rams to meet with both Jared Goff and Carson Wentz
Posted by Michael David Smith on April 17, 2016, 9:00 AM EDT

The Rams are continuing to signal publicly that they remain undecided about who will become the franchise quarterback in Los Angeles.

Days after trading up to the first overall pick in next week’s draft, the Rams have scheduled meetings with both Cal quarterback Jared Goff and North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team is currently leaning toward Goff but wants time to consider both quarterbacks. Other reports have indicated that the Rams are leaning toward Wentz.

Some think the Rams knew who they were going to take before they made the trade with the Titans but are just choosing to keep things close to the vest. Even if that’s the case, however, it doesn’t hurt to take a meeting with both quarterbacks and learn a little more about the player they’re not going to take.

With the draft now just 11 days away, the suspense won’t last much longer. We’ll see how long the Rams can manage to keep a lid on the identity of their pick.

Why? Are you really pulling for Cleveland to get Wentz? Do you hate him so much that you would wish that upon him?

Cause I have hope that Cleveland could pass for Ramsey.

Several reports saying they may not go QB.

Since they are moneyballing though I bet they will trade down with Philly and we'll watch Wentz kick our *** for the next 15 years.

This kind of stuff just wears me out.
You know they already know who they wanted to take before moving up. They don't give up all of those picks without knowing who you want to take.

Now this stuff.

And you can't say they are doing this to try and get a better contract and play off of the two because the rookie cap situation is set now so they will get the same thing.

I just hope they don't also sit on the clock the whole time during the first pick of the draft instead of just drafting who they want because I doubt they are dumb enough to give up all of those picks and try to trade back down for a decent offer...this is not the movie Draft Day.

Make the pick, start working on signing the kid, let the other people in the draft know he is off the market so they can finalize their boards.

I think if Cleveland passes on a QB, the Dawg Pound might revolt. I think RGIII was a good pickup, but I don't believe the team can sell the fans on him considering he flamed-out in Washington.

If Dallas was in a similar situation, I would expect them to do the same.

Well we'll see. We have no answers right now. Just clues.

I think they want out of the pick.

The Dawg Pound might revolt but I will tell you this.

If the Browns are smart they will Take Tunsil and smile the rest of day.

If you look back at their drafts since coming back into the league, about the only time they have gotten the first round pick or picks right is when they have taken an Offensive Lineman.

Joe Thomas has not been happy and might not be there long and word was they could trade him.

Get the best player in the draft. If Joe is gone, play him at LT if he is not play him at RT for right now.

But it is the browns...so chances are if they don't take Tunsil, they will probably make the wrong pick.

I don't disagree. I still maintain that the QBs in this draft should not be going 1-2 as there are higher-rated players like Tunsil. However, the reality is that QBs get overdrafted. Maybe Cleveland doesn't want to do that and trades down to a position where it can take Lynch or Cook, but I think if the Browns stay put, they will take a QB.

That will suck and I will cry but I'll take a few moments between picks to gain my composure and then go all in on hoping the Chargers take Tunsil and pass on Ramsey.

If Dallas lands Ramsey ill be pretty happy.

Worst case scenario though is the first 3 picks are QB, QB, Ramsey.. That would be horrible.

You know I made the wise crack comment about this is not the movie Draft Day.

HOWEVER...after thinking about it.

I could see the Titans sitting at one and planning to take Tunsil but all of a sudden they get an offer just too good to pass up.

So they trade down.

Now what happens if Tunsil falls to 4 and they call up jerry with a good offer to trade up and get the man they wanted all along.

They could still get Tunsil and they could still have extra picks left over from teh Rams Trade.

Now...THAT would be fun to see.

Perhaps the NFL has asked them to keep the puck a secret until closer to the draft. This helps spark discussion and keeps the draft more relevant in the news cycle. The Rams owe the league after the relocation thing and they want to support the circus show.

I mean, they are in LA now. Why not make a little drama?

Yeah...I don't buy that for a second.

I think the Rams say who it is and it would cause more action with other teams trying to outbid each other to get to the #2 slot if it is the player they want.
