I would get Laurinaitis because he is dependable. Also, the Cowboys won't have any dropoff in production if Laurinaitis takes over for Lee or McClain if they are out with an injury.

Did you just compare Laurinaitis to Sean Lee?

Was that a joke?

When Healthy Lee is a top 3 LB in all of football.

I'm taking a run at Long, just so I don't have to hear anymore sack-less Mincey "returning" talk.

I'd take Cook only for the fact that it saves us from taking a TE in the 2nd round.

Laurinaitis has had over a 100 tackles every season in his career. If McClain walks at least he should be an option and so should Long especially with Mincey leaving he can be that end that rotates. I'm sure a team like the patriots get him and he will have 10-12 sacks lol

PEDs?

I'd take a look at Laurinitis of the three. If the team truly wants to move on from Rolondo McClain, he would be a solid, dependable replacement for a year or two until a younger player is ready. I would definitely prefer that to taking another weakside linebacker at #4 overall.

Not sure what people are seeing in Long that makes him so attractive. 3 sacks?????? The LB is ok. Cook would be the only guy I would consider as a backup TE.

i agree, as far as I know Laurinaitis isn't the headaches McClain is and drug suspension waiting to happen. I'd take McClain if he plays like he did season before this last one but who knows what we'll get from him? Will he show up in shape? Will he be dialed in?
I would think we would at least be calling his agent and get an asking price.

I would take a look at all 3 for depth and role players in a rotation. But won't be concerned if they pass either.
However, sometimes we need those older vets to step in and step up.
The team has been in a youth movement the past 3 years, passing on older players that have stepped in and helped teams. Like Jared Allen, Julius Peppers, Dwight Freeney to name a few. They weren't what they used to be, but sure seemed like they contributed too.

So instead of throwing out rookies they like but never really step up, not yet anyway, it would be nice to have a few vet leadership and the RKG types. A winning team needs that mix of vet, rookie or less than 4 years as well as the 5 to 8 year guys.

As a rotational player-of course I would be interested. The guy he would be replacing had ZERO sacks.

Its a depth issue. All three of these guys offer more than what we currently have. We wouldn't expect them to come in and save the season.

This is what so many fans on this board don't understand. We have to have depth at CB, DL, Lb. really everywhere.

So when a player is mentioned that isn't a superstar, those fans throw up their arms and proclaim that said players suck....totally missing the point.

All three players would provide great depth at positions in which we are sorely lacking depth.

All three players were cut for cap reasons. I think the Rams are making room to go after a QB.

I also won't be surprised to see them get into the game of trying to resign these guys for less. Much better for the cap than restructuring.

I love that certain fans here act like we are too good for another team's cap casualty. Teams sign players all of the time. If a guy can help your team, sign him.

But you guys are right, signing another team's cap casualty never ever works out....

I would sign both. Chris long can workout as a rotational piece and Laurinaitis could be a cheap option for MIKE linebacker for this upcoming season. We only have so much capspace (after restructures).

I didnt compare but when one or both of those guys were out, you saw a big drop in LB production. Are you guaranteeing that Lee and McClain will play 16 games next year? If you are not, then the Cowboys would need to look at depth in the LB and not overvalue the LB based on potential.

You said if Lee went down Laurinatis could come in and there would be no drop in play.
