The Counter
The counter is a gap-scheme run the Cowboys have called only twice thus far in 2017. What separates the counter from a power run is the fake by running back Ezekiel Elliott. He makes a jab step in one direction in hopes of freezing the defense as well as syncing his timing with his pulling blockers, then heads in the opposite direction to receive the handoff and follow his one or two-man escort to the play side.

Los Angeles, like the teams before them, will likely load the box with a seventh or eighth defender, so big gains such as the one below may be difficult to achieve...
