The things Adrian has done with that supporting cast are mind blowing. I was a huge fan of Sweetness (most of his career spent with QBing also-rans), loved Earl while he played, and appreciated Juice's elusiveness, though I was a bit young for his prime. The guy I would have killed to watch when he had his fastball was Jim Brown.

Payton gets my vote, too. Pererson's not in the conversation yet, but he's getting there. Best of his generation, no doubt.

I agree with this and by a wide margin. If he can put two or three more good seasons together, which is not at all out of the question, he is probably in the discussion. He just has to do it.

As far as the quarterbacks, it's not about being great as much as it is about being able to put up passing numbers. Peterson's guys have been just awful. I'm talking 89-yards-passing-in-a-game awful much of the time.

Chandler and Ferragamo started in Super Bowls. Everett was good until he lost his nerve. George was BRILLIANT at times, but he had a lot of Jay Cutler in him, or the other way around. Amazing talent with a bad attitude and the social skills of a doorknob.

Didn't know you played with Everett. That's cool. At Purdue?

No, HS ball. Was never good enough to play College Ball but I followed Jim's career pretty closely.

@SportsSturm: Interesting how Josh and DeMarco remind us we are just cheering for laundry. They are great, they aren't great in that other shirt. #Sports

@robphillips3: Tell you what: There wasn't any meat left on the bone at our favorite BBQ joint yesterday.

Why should he? We sit here all day on this forum talking about how MurrAy left yards on the field so what makes Randle any less qualified to do so? To his credit.... He took advantage of his limited amount of carries and didn't leave yards out there.

Uh, because he couldn't beat out the guy who left meat on the bone. He didn't even get to pull up his chair and take more than a nibble before he was called to the kitchen to prepare the food.

Besides, we are fans. We think we know what we're talking about, but most of us don't. We live vicariously through others. However, when you have the opportunity to play, then you really shouldn't be talking about players you couldn't beat then talk smack when they leave.

If Murray were still here, Randle would still be asking for his scraps.

To me, Peterson is just a bigger, stronger version of Walter Payton. Dickerson and OJ aren't even in the conversation because they didn't run with a smidge of the ferocity that Peterson does. And I'd put Ferragamo, Everett, Chander and George WAY above the quarterbacks that Peterson played with.

Not in the conversation????? What conversation? OJ and Dickerson are 2 of the best to EVER lace them up.

No. AD is very good but he's not the best at every skill. All of these guys were every type of back, to certain degrees. Honestly, the best all around do it all back I ever saw was Walter Payton. He was better then AD from the stand point of being able to do everything you want out of a back and the best QB he ever played with was McMahon, who was not all that great. Lots of these backs never played with great QBs. Barry Sanders never played with a great QB. Eric Dickerson played with guys that would make ADs list look like perennial All Pros. Just awful! OJ never played with great QBs. AD is not unique in that regard.

I get you like him and I understand why. Your an OU guy, he's an OU back and he's really good but he's not the best. At this point, he's not even in the discussion IMO. He will have to do more for a few more years to be in the discussion and it remains to be seen if he can do that.

Strawman argument. Nobody has claimed that Adrian is the best at every skill.

But he is comfortably well above average in virtually everything.

That's what makes him special.

Not paying attention. I have already said that he is great and is the best of his generation. The discussion, as I understand it, was if he is the best of all time because of his abilities in all areas.

True true and for the record I'm a Randle fan. It's all in the karma and psychology of the matter. I believe in setting up a pyschological edge that's all. If it were me I would be 100% complimentary of Murray and go on about his professionalism and what I learned from him blah blah etc.. This is class and if you go out and actually crush it next year... you allow OTHERS to speculate how much better you than Murray ...NOT YOU!!!! This is how you win coming and going imho.

Nailed it.

What does Murray being the better back have to do with him leaving yards on the field? Romo backed up Bledsoe, Vinny and Quincy here. Demarco himself backed up Felix Jones. Why? Because they had more invested in Felix.

I just think it's silly to tell another man not to have a opinion on something based on skill. Jason Garrett has no business discussing quarterback play because he couldn't beat out Troy Aikman using this logic.

The issue isn't whether he left yards on the field. The issue is whether Randle should have said anything when he didn't get a chance to play and didn't even get a chance but to nibble at the bone.

And, yes, if you are the better back that means you're playing and able to eat more meat off the bone than a lesser back who only gets to nibble.

If you want more bites than beat me to the dinner table.

I just think it's silly to tell another man not to have a opinion on something based on skill. Jason Garrett has no business discussing quarterback play because he couldn't beat out Troy Aikman using this logic.

You left out a critical and crucial point. Jason Garrett has no business CRITICIZING Aikman's quarterback play because he couldn't beat out Troy Aikman.

It's one thing to discuss; it's quite another to criticize, especially when you can't beat out the person you think should be doing more.

I think it's silly that people can't understand this.
