I was watching the 1981 NFC championship game replayed last night on NFL Network and I was thinking how cool it was when the offensive line under Landry did that thing where they raised up as a unit before going down into their stances. It didn't make anyone a better player but it said "Cowboys". It also seemed classy and it was unique, like Coach Landry. Kinda wish we brought that back.

That's all I've got. Carry on.

There was a specific reason the O-linemen did that. It wasn't to make anyone a better player. The offense would break the huddle and get into formation. Once the QB started calling the signals, the O-line would stand up and then get into position. While the linemen stood up the backs would change formations. Landry believed that the defense would no longer know what formation the backs were in when the ball was snapped therefore giving our offense an advantage.

Landry was a master. I miss watching that offense as well.

I was just talking about this with a friend. Anybody know if it's still legal?

That's why many of us became Cowboy fans...they were unique.

Landry was such a brilliant defensive guy that he was always tinkering with ways to confuse a defense.

This was one of them.

Great stuff.
