I would have no problem letting mincey go once hardy came back.....not sure why so many on here love him so much. To me anyone who starts at de on the week side should be able to get you 7+ sacks for the year...he is nothing special and there was a reason why we signed hardy and drafted two defensive ends

There's more to playing the DE position than sacks. Not only that but he was our best DE last year and he was really solid the last few months of the NFL. Why on earth would you let go of him to hurt you depth? And do it for who or what?

Yeah, but isn't it great to have so many good DL that you have to think about trading or cutting one !!!! How long has it been since Dallas had to do that?

Yes I firmly believe that the last of our DL cut will be rostered by someone as opposed to the dumpster diving we've had to do the last few years to have enough to play.

If Gardner is playing with or out playing Mincey I could see cutting him because if players are roughly equal then you should always let age decide. Mincey was the best DE last year in a large part because we had very little mature talent at DE. This year, after Hardy is back, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Mincey as the 4th DE on the roster, or 5th if we have 5 at that point. We have so much more talent right now then we have had in the front seven since at least 2007 I'd say.

Gregory was held twice in the SF game or might have had 3 sacks...Gardner was actually tackled on one play..no penalty of course...Love their hustle.

This defense could be fun to watch this year.

Gardner has not done much in the games. Some reports say he has looked better in practice recently, but I'm waiting to see it in the games.

He was not good week 1 against SD.

In week 2 he had 1 good play as a pass rusher; although the OT made it easy for him. The OT crossed his inside foot over his outside foot making it easy to Gardner to beat him to the inside. Garnder had 3 or 4 decent plays against the run but they had TEs blocking him on those plays.

Gardner lost track of the ball on one play letting the ball carry pass by him while he tackled the guy without the ball.

Lavar Edwards has been much better than Gardner in the 1st two games.

Optimism and pessimism are two sides of a single coin. Perpetural pessimists and optimists exists on opposite sides from each other. One must share an equal portion of both optimism and pessimism to balance the other and control bias. Those who successfully bring both into equilibrium are the best judges of perception.

Sometimes it's not even an issue of pessimism or optimism. The fact is, people handle things differently. One guy stubs a toe and says '******.' Another might stub a toe and make a much bigger production of it.

I can tell by the fact that I usually don't think most teams are 'dumpster fires' or most bottom-roster NFL players are 'slop' or most execs are 'idiots' that I'm really less of an optimistic Cowboys homer than I am just less dramatic than some in general. In fact, I might have lower expectations for the year than a lot more negative posters might have right now, but I choose not to belabor that because it kind of defeats the purpose of enjoying watching your favorite team compete.

Hardy is rusty and will take some time to get back to his all pro playing level. Gardner......he's done decent against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Mincey has done this against legit competition. He's not Demarcus Ware. But he doesn't need to be.

Mincey is mostly a JAG. Around a league average DE, maybe a touch below. If you think you can get that out of someone younger I think you almost have to do it. Mincey will likely go no where but down from here. Honestly, I don't think Mincey loses his spot this year, but I wouldn't say its entirely out of the realm of possibility.

Well I don't disagree that he's for the most part a JAG. But him being a "JAG".....is better than what we have currently on this roster aside from a healthy and not rusty Hardy. Fact is, we simply don't know what we have in anyone at DE. We just don't. Mincey being a "JAG" is atleast something we know will be good depth.

Perpetual optimists and perpetual pessimists are two-dimensional...ultimately boring and artificial. In both cases their agenda over-rides everything...and deems their opinion to be worthless.

The perpetual pessimist is usually bitter, angry and needs to make himself feel better by tearing others down. The perpetual optimist is either trying to sell something...or just sell himself on a fiction that will help him get through the day.

The only meaningful people in the world are those capable and honest enough to see reality...and respond to reality. No agenda. No filters. No BS.

@Reality I formally challenge you to a dual. Winner takes your username.
I wish to be meaningful.

Not saying much......also, he was our only healthy one.

Lawrence, Mincey, Gregory, Russell, and Hardy are your ends when Hardy is back.

Hayden, Crawford, Crawford, and Coleman or Bishop.

That's if they do 25 on defense.

9 secondary player, 7 LBers, 9 DL.

They might squeeze an extra DL if they go 2 QBs, 3 RBs, 4 TEs, 5 WRs, 9 OL, and a FB.

you can see that in video and what site are you reviewing this. Good analysis
