That’s where I’m at. Frankly, I think he only has a shot because Irving being a DA has opened up a DL spot for weeks 1-4. Other than that, I doubt they allocate a roster spot to such a huge gamble.

Unless Gregory gets hurt or suspended, he's on the team.

Randy has been away from football for 22 months and has never been the type to take care of himself. Injuries are very likely with that much time off. He needs to make the team first.

"Never has" doesn't mean never will. Do you not understand the hard work it took for Randy to get reinstated? He has stayed in shape and worked on his technique while waiting on this reinstatement process to work. Don't count him out just yet.

I don't know how we keep Crawford and his salary when we've got Taco/Gregory/Armstrong all needing snaps.

If we go w/6 I’ve got to believe we’ll roll light at DT...with the notion of using at least one end as a backup DT.

BTB had 6 *before* Gregory and Tapper.

I can see going deep with young guys to keep depth if we don't sign Lawrence. Hard to see Crawford being a part of that.

Some of this may just shake out with preseason injuries anyway.

Taco, Armstrong, Lawrence, Gregory will make it if healthy
Then it's Tapper, Crawford, and Ealy

We'll get an extra spot at DT while we wait on Irving, but I hope we fill that with a DT instead of another tweener.

I never doubted the NFL would reinstate him and glad the did sooner that many expected. Now that is done and over with and the business of football should take center stage. Gregory is going to have to compete for the job, I don't feel he is somehow entitled to the job but should be expect to show himself as one of the top DE on this team.

How fast is he now? How's his bend? Can he get low and keep moving? How's the hand placement? Camp will be fun, fans are ready for a success story here. If Randy, armstriAr, or tapper can make some plays opposite Dlaw then we are going to love this defence.

I agree with you there. I might could go with a 3rd as I feel it will be at the bottom of the round but like a 4th much better. We are deep at DE and receiver perhaps a conditional 5th with a couple of players, barring Thomas resigns with us.
