You gotta make us the NFC East favorite if he returns. Just projecting out his career sack total, he's gonna nail at least one QB this year. The suspense of who he might sack has got to be taking its toll on the psyche's of offensive line coaches and Qb's in philly, ny and washington.

Last game: 1 sack, 6 tackles. That's more than just a pass rush specialist, but if he's good enough as a specialist, I'll happily take him as one.

At his size pre suspensions, was he big enough to take on OTs every down and be able to shed the block to stop the ball carrier? I don't recall his games and how he played or when he played(down/distance). Coming out, he was 6'4, 235/240?
Curious to find out what weight he is at if he gets reinstated. Weight isn't everything, but technique can also only do so much if the guy across from you has good hand work/80-90lbs over you.

I'd say your train of thought is more moronic.

We could have 50 years of service time left, genius. I wouldn't draft either player in a do over.

I'd take Jaylon again. I think that one might actually work. I wouldn't take Gregory. He's brought absolutely nothing to the team so far...and it's been far. At least Jaylon brings work ethic and enthusiasm.

My biggest issue with the Jaylon pick is that a defensive pick that produced, at that spot, and we might not have lost to Green Bay. It's impossible to calculate what we traded away by taking Jaylon. Is it completely out of line thinking that taking Jaylon might have cost us a Superbowl run?

Crap...I just talked myself out of taking Jaylon.

I hope Gregory gets his shot.
We need to know how he is going to perform on the field and don't need no "What if's"
Exactly. Wish him all the best in his personal life but as a DC fan I need one thing & one thing only at this point. Can you & will you be an asset to this team?

Taking him where we took him was lunacy. No matter what he does from here, it will never balance the equation of investment vs return. Taking him in say the 5th round for instance, changes the equation completely. But water under the bridge. All we can do is root for him & hope his production going forward is truly game changing.

Well I guess after reading these posts that I am the only person expecting RG to be a ****** and not reinstate Randy. As for the suggestion that 'most' Cowboy fans wouldn't have drafted Jaylon, I couldn't agree less. He's definitely been worth the risk and there's every reason to believe that he will continue to be.

I'd say we're set at DE with Tank, Taco, Ealy, Crawford and Tapper. Not sure there'd really be any snaps for Gregory unless he's just in phenomenal shape.
Tapper won't make this roster and Gregory is the most talented end we have

I took that list as other than the Cowboys who are the most talented teams. Our talent can not be questioned. There will be books written about it.

Gregory likely reinstated. Jaylon with no brace and looking like a beast.

Those second round gambles that everyone likes to ridicule could very well help this defense take the next step this season.
They could .

It could also be argued that those risk have prevented us from more success thus far.

Imagine if we used more reliable solid picks in those slots who were already contributing.

Jaylon and Gregory could have already missed out on the team's best opportunity to win a title in their career. We'll see if they get another shot as good as the one in 2016, when the defense was sorely needing talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Right!!

Imagine if we had solid 2nd round picks on DL and LB on that 2016 team. One or both collectively with defense might have been enough to slow or stop Packers.

If this defense can start making a big impact in terms of turnovers and late game stops then I think they will have a very good chance at getting a title.

Sure if Jaylon and Gregory can play to their potential then that would be a great start. I don't think this team is as far away from winning it all as some here suggest.
I think the team has been capable of winning it for a few years already. Capable, not favorites. I just don't have confidence they will.

When we look at some of the top teams in NFC who we will be chasing for playoffs contending for championship defense is where they hold a distinct advantage. If we can close that gap our chances increase significantly.

I agree but even on defense despite being a young group outside of Lee I like what we have. FS is my biggest concern with the defensive unit.
