The earliest he could apply for reinstatement is November

Technically the League could rule on his case in time for him to return for the Playoffs but they won't....they will drag it out past the Super Bowl.........and even then it is no guarantee he is allowed back..... Josh Gordon had his denied

As I see it the Cowboys have 3 years of control left....... if the miracle happens and he stays clean for another year then he is still a potential asset...... until then he costs nothing to keep

Yes, if he can stay clean, then he can come back next year and try to contribute. If he draws another suspension, then the team cuts ties and moves on with what it's got. There's no reason to even think about Gregory until next year.

That's his decision.

The team will likely welcome him back. It's up to him to follow the necessary steps to stay clean and get help if he needs it. Even though he can't come into contact with the team, I'm sure he is still drug tested.
yea, cause if the previous 178 chances didn't convince him to change, this one will.

for all we know, he's failed 3 more tests because I get the feeling this guy has zero self control

It seems he's become highly dependent upon his pot habit to control the social anxiety issue that haunts him. It's a problem.

Nope. He can't be anywhere near the facility, and they can't have contact with him.

You sure about that?

I'm pretty sure the league switched that policy years ago when they realized that keeping guys who have substance abuse issues away from the team sort of screws their social support..

They won't just release him. He's not eating a roster spot and is unpaid during the suspension. There's no reason not to give him every opportunity to solve his problems to contribute when it costs the team nothing.
Thank you, Cas. Preach, brother. I was gonna post this but this is why I read the thread, first :):star:

I think that only applies up until the Banishment Stage, which Gregory is now in

The league's policy is the problem, Bull. Not Randy.

He can't be on the field for some damn weed. Really? Like, really? The NFL has players beating on women, taking roids, driving drunk, and RG can't play cuz he puffs on some weed to relax himself.

Disgusting

14 games - 1 sack 8 hurries 15 tackles .......... 7 (known) failed drug tests
It's in your sig, Z. I know.

He also flashed something elite when he had his last stint before Mara had him sit back down. His bend and speed is elite. He's a 10+ sack/year RDE, rotting because of a stupid arse rule

He is rotting because he chose the sticky icky instead of football. He is soft and he lacks discipline.

I don't agree, BP. He needs his medicine and won't be waivered.

Like I said... roids -- ok. DUI -- ok. Beating on women -- ok. Weed -- oogie boogie gonna get you
