Yes but missing on high draft picks has consequences down the line. DLaw looks to be another one as well. And we had to spend a 3rd to move up to get him. This team has big issues finding their pass rusher since Ware left.

2013- Escobar
2014- DLaw
2015- Gregory

They took a shot and failed. It happens. Its not like they sat out and did it on purpose. They needed a pass rusher. They went out and got the best one available in free agency(Hardy) and in the draft(Gregory). I just can't cry over something like that. I would've been more upset had they not addressed these issues but they did. They know what they need to go out and do.

The NFL isn't built for you to be set at every position. Just be thankful we don't have to look for Romo's replacement.
No, it doesn't. We could have had a solid contributor down the stretch for this Super Bowl run. And with Collins, we could have had two. :(

Well we shouldn't have even had Collins to begin with. If it wasn't for those charges against him he wouldn't be a Cowboy.

We also picked up Irving from a practice squad.

This is why we should just believe what the players say about themselves and their coaches

You can't build a team around guys you can't count on. Gregory has proven to be unreliable. Thankfully-- Collins and Irving have stepped up this season in a big way and we have gotten some decent play from Crawford and McClain and Thornton as well.

As frustrated as I am that the gamble on Gregory has been a disaster to this point-- I am supportive of JJ sticking things out with him. At this point-- we have nothing else to lose and a lot to gain if he is able to grow up and be a productive member of the team. Cutting Gregory right now is not the right decision IMO. Let things play out next year and see how he handles his business.

He'll either buckle down and straighten up-- or fold like a cheap cardboard box and self-medicate. Nobody can do this for him-- he needs to make this decision for himself and own it. That's the only way he'll change. I hope the kid can step up and grow up. He has a great opportunity if he can just get the support and stability he needs to get his head and heart right.

True. But we could have had him AND a productive player in the second round had we not drafted Gregory.

Well if we drafted basted on hindsight we'd have a Pro Bowl team lol. What if we would've drafted Johnny Football over Zach Martin? You can do this with all of our draft picks. You don't want to waste 2nd round picks. I get it. But in a league where most teams waste 1st rounders and end up being busts? I'm alright with this move. It looked stupid at the time. Drafting a guy who just failed a drug test. But I take the chance in hope he gets his life together. It was worth the risk.

But there's a difference between drafting players who play but you just miss on them and drafting players who have drug problems, who fail tests at the combine, but you ignore that and take them anyway. :(

So you have a shot at Von Miller....knowing his history....do you sign him?

Did Von Miller fail a drug test at the combine?

Not to my knowledge. But he's failed a drug test. So as a free agent would you spend the money to get him knowing his history? Of course you would. The Cowboys knew of the risk. They took it. You don't get by in this league without taking risks.
