Watching the NFL network this morning and Randy Moss (the commentator, not the WR) reported that Stephen Jones told him that once the two edge rushers went off the board at the top of the 2nd (i.e., Ogbah, Dodd), that Smith was their guy.

So the pick makes even more sense IMO. We were trying to get a starter at DE and when we couldn't do that we went to Smith who we hope is a starter next year.

Kind of figured that, it does make a lot of sense since Dodd was a pre-draft invite and the links to Ogbah.

Wasn't crazy about either of those guys so I'm okay with it. It's gonna be an interesting first 4 games!

They wanted Ogbah and Dodd. Both went and they took BIPA. That is usually what they do in round 2.

All these commentators must have ESP or telekenesis or whatever it is called now.

I'm really surprised they were after Ogbah. Doesn't play like a DE Marinelli would prefer. Whereas Collins in the 3rd makes perfect sense.

Can I ask, who are the temporary replacement for Gregory and Lawrence ??? An if these replacements perform unexpectedly well, do we shove them too the bench after 4 games ?

I call horse ****. If this where any other draft, Ogbah and Dodd would be 3rd rounders IMO. Neither guy (and even Bosa, though Bosa is far better than those two) lack real latteral agility. That means you suck at edge rushing, so why would I draft you for a job you suck at.

Both of those guys are going to get swallowed up by NFL caliber tackles. Odds are good they will both play a lot of DT in a 4-3 defense or DE in a 3-4 defense.

Everyone in the world had Dodd and Ogbah going early 2nd
