I call horse ****. If this where any other draft, Ogbah and Dodd would be 3rd rounders IMO. Neither guy (and even Bosa, though Bosa is far better than those two) lack real latteral agility. That means you suck at edge rushing, so why would I draft you for a job you suck at.

Both of those guys are going to get swallowed up by NFL caliber tackles. Odds are good they will both play a lot of DT in a 4-3 defense or DE in a 3-4 defense.

Every year you draft who is available.

Everyone in the world had Dodd and Ogbah going early 2nd

Hey, I'm just reporting what I see when I look at them and as I said. If this were any other draft. They would go a lot later unless they were being drafted for an interoir position.

There's nothing firm yet that Lawerence will face a suspension. He could very well win an appeal since we're not talking about an illegal drug. It was a prescription for medical purposes, and no, not painkillers.

While putting Bosa in that class is fun he did run a 4.21 shuttle which is an objective measure of quickness. Those other guys ran in the 4.4s and 4.5s. That is before you consider redirection ability as demonstrated by 3 cone which was even better.

I also think you overrate the OT talent in the league. Sure there are Trent Williams and Jason Peter but for every one of those guys you have Morgan Moses and Justin Pugh. There is a reason why there is a run on OT every year.

Stephen jones told the whole country last night that Smith was the backup plan. We clearly wanted Ogbah or Dodd. Just bad luck.

I think Gregory and Lawrence getting suspended pretty much sealed the deal with us not getting Spence.

And he's been clean for nearly 2 years. One smoked all through college and the NFL, the other has been clean since he hit rock bottom after transferring to Eastern Kentucky where he continued to produce and provide clean samples to the NCAA w/o provocation to prove his growth in that capacity. No cajones in the FO...IR pick.

Watching the NFL network this morning and Randy Moss (the commentator, not the WR) reported that Stephen Jones told him that once the two edge rushers went off the board at the top of the 2nd (i.e., Ogbah, Dodd), that Smith was their guy.

So the pick makes even more sense IMO. We were trying to get a starter at DE and when we couldn't do that we went to Smith who we hope is a starter next year.

I like the Smith pick probably more than any of the other guys on the board in the early 2nd, so good.
