Could some of you who pay more attention than I do me a favor and rank our defensive linemen according to overall ability? There are so many new guys that I have trouble keeping up. Seems like most people think Melton is #1 and Lawrence in #2 - from there it gets fuzzy for me. Thanks!

When healthy:

Melton
Spencer
Selvie
Lawrence
Okoye
Crawford
McClain
Mincey
Coleman
Bishop

If they're both healthy (yeah a big IF) Spencer is probably a little better than Melton.

Spencer doesn't get the credit he deserves.

The rest of the list? Not bad.

I wouldn't be surprised if a year from now that Coleman was no lower than #3 on the lest.

I just give Melton the benefit of the doubt because he has experience in this scheme. But I've always been a huge Spencer supporter. I thought he was a top 2-3 SOLB long before his breakout year.

Even if Spencer is healthy enough to play I doubt he'll be what he was before, at least not ths year. If Linemen can't do heavy lifting in the weight room for several months prior to playing, then they are at a disadvantage.

Don't really know anything about Lawrence at this point. I was excited to see him in the pre-season. Hopefully he comes back strong mid-season.

Hopefully the 2nd round pick is better than Selvie.

Selvie was good last year but I have higher hopes for Lawrence.

I'm very skittish of Selvie. He started out really well last year but slowed down significantly in the 2nd half.

I thought Martez Wilson looked pretty good the other night. No love for him? I'm more interested in an evaluation of the bottom of the defensive linemen rather than debated the order of the top three or four. Take Melton, Spencer, and Lawrence out of the equation and everything gets fuzzier.
