#1 - It is a close call but I am going to say LB's - With the depth we have and Ware, Ellis, Spencer on the outside, then Zach, Bradie and Burnett on the inside I think this is the strongest unit on the team.

#2 - Ratlif, Canty, Spears, Hatcher, Tank (Ware and Ellis in the nickle) I think this unit easily competes for the number 1 spot. I give the edge to LB's because Ware is officially a LB.

#3 - RB's - I know we are going to en up with 2 rookies but I think the depth with these guys is really solid.

#4 - CB's - I rate this a bit behind RB's because Pacman is not reinstated yet and the 2 rookies will have some growing pains.

#5 - QB,Wr's and TE's - Easily the starters are the some of the best in the NFL but the depth is just not there. I will just lump them altogether because they are about equal in standing.

#6 - Oline - great front 5 but no proven depth.

I think you're way off on this buddy.
Pacman's reinstatement is a done deal. I love our LBs but it's #2 to our DB.

I believe this year will prove we have the best secondary in football. Newman/Jones is the best starting duo and Newman/Jones/Henry/Jenkins will be the best unit.

I believe at some point early on we will view Newman/Jones as the best starting CB duo in Cowboy history.

I agree with the list for the most part, but I also think that Pacman's reinstatement is a foregone conclusion.. he'll make it through camp with his paper mache halo intact and Goodell will give him the nod, therefore making our secondary the best feature of the team, if not the best in the league.

I will just say that I have seen what Ware and Ellis can do on the field. We know what Newman can do but Henry was injured most of the year and Jones has not played in a while. Jenkins and Scandrick are just rookies so until I see them make some 3rd down stops and game changing plays I will reserve judgement. That said the units I ranked above them are just flat out solid. You could move them above RB's easily I guess but I don't know how you could put them above that without proving it on the field.

1. LB. Ware and Ellis had 26.5 sacks between them last year and are backed up by a first rounder in Spencer who looks good when he gets on the field. Zach Thomas is a Pro Bowl machine who reads plays as well as anyone in the league. Bradie James is a strong physical backer who fits well into his role aside Zach. Burnett provides excellent depth inside. This group edges CBs because Ware is the best overall player on the team and that trumps all.

2. CB. Newman is a shut down type CB who doesn't give up much at all. AJ is an explosive player who makes QBs pay for mistakes. Henry is a good player who will make enough big plays to make up for the occasional lapse. Depth is based on talented youngsters who are unproven but are at least highly rated.

3. OL. This group was as dominant as any last year and as soon as they weren't any longer we were no longer in the playoffs. They are the offense. When Romo does crazy things it is most often because he has blocking to run around and make plays like is a Roger Staubach throwback. If you factor in TE this might be the best group in the NFL. Quality blockers all and Jsson Witten is a top 3 Tight End.

4. RB. This group is highly underrated. Barber motivates his OL as much as any back in football. He punishes defenders and gets in the end zone. Felix Jone sis a rookie but rookie RBs routinely contribute and Dallas had his role mapped out before draft day. He'll provide a quick scat back type out of the backfield who will terrorize linebackers trying to contain him. Tashard Choice is a legit NFL back. He has some raw RB skills we have lacked in our backups such as vision and cutting ability.

Tony Romo and Terrell Owens are top 50 NFL players but the depth behind them is more than questionable in through groups. If they stay healthy it probably won't matter. Does anyone care who is backing up Tom Brady or Big Bro Manning?

If Newman and Henry were both healthy 16 games you might have an argument. Ware has never missed more than a couple of snaps and he has not played limping around performing poorly either. That's a big difference.

Let's not forget the special teams....

The punt return unit should be much better and the kick return team could be better too.

Kicker and punter are at the top of the league too but nobody has depth there so I omitted them. But I think the greatest improvement we might see is punt returns (assuming a Pacman reinstatement)with KR being a close second. With the lanes our KR unit creates for Austin I can't imagine what F Jones could do with those. I bet the kicker does not stop him every time!

We did loose 3 good special teamers in Davis, Reeves and Jones so I am a bit concerned about coverage units.
