I listen to all types..

Rap, rock, metal, hip-hop, and slow. My favorite rap artist right now is probably 50.

I like rap but can't stand this hip hop crap. I like the old school late 80's and early 90's. Eric B and Rakim, Public Enemy (Chuck D is tha man) and Dr. Dre mostly.

Big hip hop fan myself.

But only the good stuff from the golden age. (93-03) Mainly East Coast.

IMO, Tupac is simply average.

I like almost all music. But I put new Rap, Hip Hop, and Country into the same catagory......."Lowest common denominator."

In other words, it's music for the weak minded. No wonder it's so popular.:laugh1:

I was going to make that exact list, without DJ Quick (dunno him). Mos Def and Talib Kweli's album in which they were both the artist was fantastic.

I don't like mainstream rap for the reason a lot of people say it isn't music - to me it is recycled rythm with some slightly different sounds. These guys, though, make it stay art.

Common's 'Be' is a great album - the first song is fantastic.

I don't really like rap, but to say it isn't music is just ignorant. Expand your paradigm. I am assuming you do not consider it music because you do not enjoy it. If that is the case, it is hardly grounds to dismiss it as a musical genre.

Was walking down the street today and some lady was stopped at a light with her stereo blaring some rap. She switched between 3 or 4 songs, and all of them had the EXACT same beat. No variation whatsoever. It's all pretty lame. Most of these "artists" are pure hacks with very little if any musical talent. 50 cent is a hack for sure. There's a few guys out there that I respect for being somewhat original. I still don't like them much, but I at least respect them.

Well 50cent, aint really that good. I can tell you that, Tupac Shakur in his time and I believe still till this day was one of the best rappers. why? b/c a lot of his songs were based off poetry he made. sum of his songs really got in deep.

Now-a-days, I believe Eminem is the best lyrical rapper out there. hes got da' flow, hes got nice lyrics that make sum sense, he really does a better job than 50.

Maybe i'm just too much of a fan of 2pac, but I still havent seen anyone better than him. thats just my opinion. the passion he rapped his songs etc. made em a great one.
