Trust and equity are like bank accounts. You make deposits. You make withdrawals.

The Jones boys have overdrawn their account. Literally there is zero confidence on any decision they make because all goodwill and faith in their leadership has eroded.

This offseason has been terrible. Their response to the loss vs SF has amounted to their rubbing salt in the wounds of their fans.

They could actually make a decent decision and technically be “right” in a cut or signing— but they are still “wrong” on so many fronts that it is pissing into a hurricane at this point.

No one should complain about the return because they were going to cut him anyway. If you want to complain about the fact that they were going to cut him, have at it.

The best thing about this trade is seeing how Dak does next year. Maybe if he tanks and we tank they get a high draft pick and select his replacement.

You’d rather see multiple years of sucking than see Dak be successful?

I'm pretty sure that's not what I said, I would love to see him do well, but since you brought it up, what's one more year after 26. It's time to consider the possibility that Dak just isn't that good. If Dak needs elite players to be any good that's a huge impact on the rest of the roster, particularly the defense. The Colts weren't afraid to dump Wentz. The Bengals saw what they had with Andy Dalton and knew they had to get better at QB, I'm just saying that we might be at that point.

Clear much needed cap space for a player that has seemed to decline in production and always had some minor type injury. That he missed some plays at critical times.
We get a 5th round, and a higher 6th round, though does not seem like much. But clearing the $$$ on the books was the plan.

They will use that space to pay Schultz (though I did not like that move) and to pay Gallup. We have Gallup and Lamb, they kept Brown, though many do not like that (because that is the way they are, needing an all pro even for depth). Many are high on Feheko. Then can they keep Wilson also. And Turner.

All that does not sound well to some without the name of Cooper, or some other top named WR. But it is still not a horrible group if they can keep them together. And do not rule out them drafting a WR in the top 3 either. I don't think they go with a WR in the 1st round, unless one drops like Lamb did.

Well those other teams didn’t already have a 1st round pick and 45+ mil invested into Amari. Those other teams are also likely to invest the $ not spent on Amari to improve the team elsewhere, the cowboys will not so it’s a little different.

What Jerry did was the equivalent of a poker player pushing 80% of their chips in on the turn and then limp away and fold on the river. Better off just seeing it through when you are that invested.

Bingo! They never truly trusted him......in other words, he was never going to get $20M for 2022 from Stephen. Remember the main reason he was extended coz we had burned a 1st round pick with only one-year to show. In hindsight, we probably should have never made the trade WITHOUT a new deal.

Also there is Vasher on the roster, don't forget about him, he could be the guy making the most progress in TC.
Feheko, Vasher and Turner (if signed)

He spoke out in the season about "targets" which was a direct rip at the QB.

The previous one to do that, Beasley, was let go after doing that.

There is a rule about making it about the QB and if you noticed the team, including the frustrated coaches, were mum about the QB's decision on the last play of that game.

We could see a correction on the position within a couple of years.......think about it. Most teams already have or want 1a, 1b and No 2 Wrs depending on the scheme. What happens when both 1a and 1b are up for extensions? You can't afford them.....The Bengals' three WRs are a good example.

Oh please. We don't need any "breakdown" of why the Cowboys let him go. He trash-talked Dak, period. And ain't nobody allowed to make Dak look bad. Think the clowns in the FO are worried about paying $20 mil to keep a guy here, even if he underperforms? With the stupid contracts they dish out on the regular? This is all about image, and Daddy & Son simply can't allow dissent in the locker room, because if we can't win, at least we're "cohesive" and believe in the process.

Don’t think it has anything to do with Dak as I bet he wanted him back. They didn’t touch his contract when they touched many others

    Great point.

The return almost feels like a slap in the face vs a straight cut.

Mostly I feel as though many around here think that draft compensation falls in line with ability or production....or even potential thereof, considering it was an underperforming contract from any perspective.
