Lee's an animal, and it's crazy-talk to say we need to move on from him. He plays hard, and puts a ton of torque on those soft tissues.

The mistake was in not backfilling his position with anybody who can actually play. Somebody like Zack Brown, who was available and signed an affordable one-year deal with the Commanders instead.

Agreed! This board talks him up when he is on the field. I realize he can’t stay healthy, but to just say I’m done with him seems a bit stupid to me!

Broaddus suggested starting March-Lillard at ROLB and Hitchens at MLB.

Seems a bit ambitious for March-Lillard.

The question isn't whether or not it's ambitious, it's how in the world could he possibly be worse? The answer: He cannot. The bar is set so unfathomably low that March-Lillard can do nothing worse than equal it.

Jaylon is a liability, no doubt. but i find it hard to believe that March-Lillard, fresh off a practice squad, is an upgrade. Even over Jaylon.
Now Durant, is an upgrade. Probably a nominal one, but at least an upgrade. Although, I could see him getting injured with an increased work load.

Sad thing is....Hitchens played well too. I don't understand how or why our defense is so reliant on Lee. Unfortunate for us that he can't stay healthy.

Lee is a coach on the field. He recognizes practically everything pre-snap, and communicates to fhe DL, his fellow LBs and the DBs what’s happening and puts them in a position to succeed (except vs. Denver; nobody’s perfect). And then he has the athletic ability to make the play. When he’s out, the defense is lost because they’re relying on someone else. Jaylon is not remotely ready to be 25% of Lee. They need to have Hitchens at MLB.

He's the best linebacker in the NFL when healthy, and he's been healthy most of the past three years.

You don't move on from that.

The problem is the complete lack of depth at the linebacker position. Jaylon is a horror show, and after Hitchens........who? Wilson, Wilber, and Durant?

Reuben Foster was right there. But we took Taco Bueno.
The camera caught Taco staring into space sitting away from his dline teammates yesterday. I do not get warm and fuzzy vibes about this kid (intangibles).

What's it going to be then, eh?

You literally cannot field a team every year banking on an unreliable player. I don't care how good he is.

It is now no longer "bad luck". Lee will get hurt, every season that he plays professional football.

You cannot field a defense counting on the unreliable to get lucky.

It is sad, but just a simple fact. He has moved beyond a crucial piece to succeed to a bonus if we have him.

Think Jacksonville would be willing to do Jaylon and Byron for Myles and Jalen straight up?

I don't think we can trust Jaylon at this point. I know he missed a year but he's been awful. Hitchens is a free agent and I'm not sure he'll be worth what someone else will pay him. We may need a high draft pick at linebackker.

I understand his role.......I just don't understand the drop off. It doesn't just seem like a lost thing...it seems like players just aren't reacting. Its like they are waiting for Lee to make the tackle.....but Lee isn't there lol.

This has less to do with Sean being a stud, and more to do with Jaylon being a horrible MLB. When Lee was out a couple of years ago and Ro came in this defense actually got better.

If we just had anyone that could play half way decent it wouldn't be so bad. If he starts Sunday night over Wilson or whomever it's going to be ugly folks.
Keep Hitchins in the middle and do whatever you want with Jalen and the other guys. We don’t want those two bruiser RBs running free in our secondary.

He normally plays 14-15 games a season. Other than the ACL year, and now however many games he misses this season. You can work with that.

I agree that you can't bank on him. That's why I said we needed to sign a player who can backup the WIL and the MIKE so you've got three guys who can play and your SAM. A Zach Brown or a Bowman on the roster and things wouldn't look as bad when he misses his inevitable couple of games. The rest of the year, though, he's an absolute beast.

I love Sean Lee. Best defensive player we’ve had here since prime Ware.

With that said, we will never be able to field a competent defense because hes too valuable and unreliable at the same time.

The LB corps needs a complete overhaul this offseason. Its by far the worst unit on our team

i suspect a 38-14 debacle vs the eagles. i mean who’s gona stop whoever runs for them? chargers aren’t gona be easy on a short week either. this is turning into a nightmare season. i honestly want it over and go draft well + FA signings.
