mickey pretty much confirmed everything we believed today on talking cowboys.

1. jay never wanted to play for this organization again.
2. jay was trying to get the team to put him on IR so he didn't have to play yet still got paid.
3. cowboys were sick of ratliff and it shocked him when they cut him.
4. jerry is going to sue.
5. if they get the money back, they'd get the cap rebate next year.

I'm very happy to hear this. On the day Ratliff was cut, Jerry said he had no comment because it was now a legal matter. I have felt since then that there was a ton more going on than we knew and that the team had already decided to sue Ratliff.

This is what Mickey has been given the green light to say about the matter.

I still think there's more to it. A big question still remains as to why he didn't want to play for the team.

The situation is definitely slanted to make Jay appear as though he is entirely in the wrong and was completely unprovoked.

I agree.

The facts are not completely out on this. Whether Ratliff was a dog who stole money, or was misdiagnosed/treated by the Cowboys medical staff is not known. All we are hearing are a few items that are leaked, and a whole lot of inference and conjecture from people on both sides of the argument (pro-Cowboy, pro-Ratliff).

No one knows for sure what was discussed between both parties, nor does anyone truly know what and how he was operated on. We will never know (due to doctor-patient confidentiality). No one also truly knows whether he didn't want to play for the Cowboys. I haven't heard anything on the record by Ratliff indicating this, nor have we heard from the Cowboys coaching staff, front office or training staff.

To say that he was a dog who stole money is speculative at best, and to say that the Cowboys blew it by releasing him is equally speculative. All that is taking place are opinions based on inference, speculation, and predisposition to take a side, one way or another.

Finally, it's a small community. It'll be interesting to see if another team so much as sniffs at him after the stunt he apparently pulled here in Dallas. My guess is 'no,' but it is a hyper competitive league. He might get one more shot, somewhere. I'm curious to see if he does.

My position on this is unchanged. I have, since the incident took place with Jerry, believed that Ratliff would never play another down for the Cowboys. I also believe that there is a very good chance that other owners will not be in any big hurry to sign him either.

I think the NFL owners and the NFLPA will take a good look into this. The owners don't want other players thinking they can pull the same shenanigans. Get paid, fake injury, force a cut, then go to some other team to double dip. If Rat pulls it off, others will follow. I think the NFL owners will put a stop to this type of conduct very quickly.

Good point.....................if Ratliff can get away with faking an injury so he can get released and then go play elsewhere, it sets a bad precedent that other players might try in the future.

Obviously, the extension with 2 years left was a huge mistake, but Ratliff really let me down as a fan. He must be getting some bad advice or something.

Not saying I want anybody to get hurt, I am just saying that if Ratliff signs with another team that is on the Cowboy's schedule, he better have his head on a swivel and be wearing knee braces. Players have a way of policing their own, and when you pull crap like this................well, lets just say crack back/chop blocks to the knees have a way of accidentally happening during the game if you know what I mean.

This was clearly messy behind closed doors, wash your hands and move on.

Priority #1 sign D-Line coach to a 20 year deal.

My thoughts exactly
I always thought highly of him until recently and have been quite surprised by what is coming out
Lee talking about him convinced me that at least at the end Ratliff needed to go

I'm ready to move on also.

I don't know if we have ever had as many threads in one year dedicated to players who didn't play as much as this year between Spencer and Ratliff.

I agree with this. But, since Rat is big baby and his agent should be banned from the sport, will they scream collusion if no one wants to sign him?

Like many on here, I used to love Rat and what he brought on the field...now, he is a distant memory...I don't want anyone hurt, ever, but I would be pleased if he never played another down in the nfl because the owners black-balled him

Kind of like TO - who is probably in phenomenal shape - is out of work. Talent wise, he can help any team right now. Character wise, they are all staying away from him. It appears a player's character actually matters to owners and GMs. Refreshing to see if you ask me.
