Jerry for all the hell I give him, is too damn nice sometimes. He was too nice when it came to the cap penalties and he was too nice when Ratliff physically confronted him. It's time to stop taking the high road Jerry.

If he does, I sure hope he ends up on our remaining schedule.

@Edwerderespn could Dallas take legal action to dissolve cap restrains in regards to Ratliff and his master plan?

@B_Jenkins22 I do not believe they have any recourse but they've been quiet and curious to see reaction if Ratliff signs elsewhere for 2013

Cowboys spent $18M guaranteed on Jay Ratliff, who intends to sign elsewhere. Such acrimony 1 source says Ratliff simply wouldn't play for JJ

How did he do this? Educate me. Was it the riff in the locker room? Because I cannot think of anything that Jerry has done to the Rat face.

In all the years that Jerry has owned this team, I have never heard of any talk about a player that disrespected the GM in front of the team...never! If Jerry has a fault, which he does, is that he treats his players to kindly...lending them his Jet, overpaying them, treating them with respect.

So, tell me what you think that Jerry has done to the Rat face to help create this mess.

When Ratt refused to go to DE, that was the first step in showing him that he was bigger than the team. The injuries was questioned for a while. Jerry let it go on until it resulted in a fight. Ratt had the DUI and nothing was done about it. If you keep letting one player put himself above the team, this is the result. Ratt went though all of this right in front of the GM, Jerry Jones. This is s good example of the country club that Jimmy spoke of. He got his way time and time again and everybody is surprised when he acts like a spoiled child. When a player causes these problems on other teams, the GM takes care of it. Should Dallas be any different? Should the Cowboys' GM be held accountable? I guess these things just happen. This problem should have stopped before it started.

I dont know the details.

But my first thought is that ratliff just decided to hold a grudge and keep milking it like he couldnt play despite the obvious need the cowboys had at the D Line position. And now that they released him he is ok to play - So he could have played for Dallas and been a big contributor to a team that is possibly about to turn the corner and make some noise in this league. But instead wanted to see this team struggle out of spite and keep collecting a paycheck.

The other thought I have is that there is possibly a law suit about to happen or happening between He and the cowboys - in which case it would not seem to make sense for him to play here while in a lawsuit.

It was so obvious at the end of last season that this guy was going to be an issue. It is pathetic that Jerry couldnt see the writing on the wall and get rid of him in the off season.

Wait he isn't even ready to workout in a couple of weeks. That seems right in line with the thinking when putting him on short term IR.

We had to make a decision to activate him from IR. Decided not to. Moved on.

Does that mean Ratliff should just retire?

LOL at people claiming Ratliff isn't showing any respect for the organization when teams cut players all the time. Where is the loyalty then?

Thanks for the good years Ratliff. Shame you never became a rushman.

I was happy when this guy got cut. Ratliff just seems like a real crappy person based on his actions these past few years. I'll put him as being worse than TO honestly. I'm SOOO glad to see him gone and hopefully they can get out of paying his contract somehow.

NFL Media obtained an email from Ratliff's agent Mark Slough, which was sent to personnel directors around the NFL:

"Jay met with Dr. Meyers in Philadelphia this morning. Dr. Meyers performed his surgery last December. Jay has been medically cleared to return to all football activities without limitation. Jay has given his OK to Dr. Meyers to speak directly with any club that has an interest in talking to him.

"Jay will now continue his individual workouts in Dallas and work hard to regain further strength and improve his conditioning. His goal is to be ready to (work out) for clubs in a couple of weeks. He currently weighs 304 (pounds) and is in very good shape ... just needs to take his workouts up a notch."

@swintnasty: @BryanBroaddus any legal action gonna come from the Ratliff deal. Seems like he just didn't want to play for us.” Yep.

I hope Jerry takes Rat to the cleaners.

The altercation with Jones and the DUI after Brent's incident were both pretty bad.

Ratliff was not responding to any of the staff on the Cowboys. Don't start putting this on Jerry.

That wasn't putting it on Jerry. I'm honestly wanting to know how the team doctors wouldn't know about the severity.

The poster said that Ratliff's doctors had been feeding the team lies. So either the team doctor's didn't actually get to look at him which would be kind of strange for an injury that is lasting way the hell longer than it every should have or the team doctors know, as did the organization, and they finally just got fed up with him.

The idea that Dallas was completely in the dark is just a little far fetched for me to buy into and I would question why they were content with not knowing for the last 2-3 months in the first place. How reasonable is that?

I think it's more likely that they did know and tried to hash things out before finally growing tired of him and moving on.

I have no reason to hate Ratliff, but there is no player to ever wear the star I dislike more.
Selfish, immature and ungrateful all come to mind when describing him. Nothing would please me more than to see him return and get trucked by the middle of the Cowboys oline-over and over again.
