so do people "spec-atruth" or "truth-alate"?

from the article:
Despite a defensive line decimated by injuries, the Cowboys released the four-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle because, sources said, the team was told by the independent physician who was treating Ratliff and providing injections that he would require at least three more months before being medically cleared to play.

if the same one is now saying 2 weeks, i'd say file a grievance.

You can certainly have legitimate differing medical opinions but this appears to go deeper than that. Get your popcorn and put your feet up.

Actually if I remember correctly his agent did say he wouldn't play this season. He specifically said that Rat was shooting to be ready to play for someone in 2014. Now 10 days later he's gone from playing in 2014 to being ready in a couple of weeks?

Yeah that's the problem for some people here I'd wager. It's not that we cut him. It's that he was cut and the claims were made that he wasn't going to be ready to play this year and now 10 days later he's going to be ready this year.

That does sound like Ratliff and his agent were playing up the injury until he got cut, but I'm going to wait and see what happens first before jumping to conclusions about Ratliff. His agent might be just trying to drum up interest and keep Ratliff relevant until he actually does fully recover.

mickey pretty much confirmed everything we believed today on talking cowboys.

1. jay never wanted to play for this organization again.
2. jay was trying to get the team to put him on IR so he didn't have to play yet still got paid.
3. cowboys were sick of ratliff and it shocked him when they cut him.
4. jerry is going to sue.
5. if they get the money back, they'd get the cap rebate next year.

Were there any odds place on the chances of the team winning this?

If Mickey is accurate about this, I'm happy to see #4 listed here.

Wow. I can't believe the amount of hatred I am seeing in this thread -- to the point folks are hoping for crippling injuries.

Sick.

they hate hate, so they attack with ... hate. wild they don't see they are who they don't care for.

i wanna win.

i want a clean game.

suh and others have a "bad" game *sometimes* yet let's pretend they'll do it now cause they always do and...

well...

be stupid.

there's a reason i sent reality $200 for ignore space on the server.

Didn't say I hoped for it. I just said I would get a chuckle. Two different things.

And what happens to him on the field is outside of my control. It'd be different and "sick" if I actively seeked out to hurt the man.

He stole $18mm doing nothing for this team and pulled this stunt. Yeah sorry if I don't care if he gets injured. He'll heal. He's a big boy.
But stay on your high horse over there.

He's a waste of space on this team anyways. Getting a DUI just weeks after a teammate got one that killed another teammate. He didn't care about this team at all and just wanted free money.

I gotta say, overall, regarding Jay Ratliff, ew. I loved the guy as a player, and most of this information is completely new--no matter what conclusions had been jumped to without any supporting evidence previously. But it's just bush-league behavior.

Secondly, it says a lot about the current state of the organization that the team and Jay's camp somehow kept this all under wraps for so long. Time was, that wouldn't have been possible. We all knew there was more to this story, but something as significant as him faking injury to avoid playing for the team is almost too much to believe he thought he could get away with something like that.

Finally, it's a small community. It'll be interesting to see if another team so much as sniffs at him after the stunt he apparently pulled here in Dallas. My guess is 'no,' but it is a hyper competitive league. He might get one more shot, somewhere. I'm curious to see if he does.

That's a good point, I doubt that there is much legal recourse, a lack of interest by any teams for an otherwise healthy Rat might be the only karmic solace the Cowboys get.

I truly hope we get a cap rebate from this. It couldn't come at a better time if it happens. If we do get one, Jay Ratliff, despite all his hatred for this team, will have effectively saved the franchise from the impending cap hell we are about to walk into the next two seasons.

That's possible.

Although it seems unlikely that you'd come out one day and say he'll be ready to work out and play for someone in 2014 and then 10 days later say he'll be ready and in football shape to play in 2 weeks just to keep up interest in him.

It seems to me that they claimed the injury was extreme and needed a lot longer to heal in order to make it look like Jerry and the Cowboys were big mean *******s for trying to make him play way before could to a 'miracle' recovery and now two weeks later he's going to be in football shape in two weeks.

Pretty extreme difference, if you ask me, from where he was a mere 10 days prior when supposedly ligaments and stuff were torn out of place and he could barely move let alone play.

Would love to see Ratliff pay for his childish behavior and offer some cap space relief as a result. Although I can't imagine any litigation would be over in time to see anything for 2014.
