Where did you hear that the MRI showed nothing? Everything I've heard is that it's not the hamstring so much as a groin, which when it lasts this long usually actually means sports hernia.

If we had solid evidence he was faking it, I wouldn't like that, either. But I seriously doubt that's happening here. He's never had "no particular motivation to play". He's played harder than almost anyone on this team.

When I say no particular motivation, I mean he's going to get paid whether he plays or not because his cap number is so high. In some ways, it's hard to blame players for mistrusting the organization too. In many cases, players are glued together, given some painkillers, and told to go out there and play, sometimes to the detriment of their long-term health or playing career. IF Ratliff doesn't feel like something is right, it would be hard to blame him for wanting to sit out until HE feels he is right, rather than what someone else who is paid by the organization is telling him. Who knows? If it's still a groin issue and does turn out to be a sports hernia, you would think that diagnosis would have been made LONG ago. If he has been misdiagnosed up to this point, it might be time to find new doctors. But the MRI for his hamstring showed that it was only a mild strain, which happened like 5 weeks ago.

Well, I guess that's that.

Nine months and counting since surgery. Not sure what six more weeks will do. Terrance Newman recovered from it in five weeks.

The whole Ratliff thing smells - even dating back to last season. I doubt we ever see him play a down again for this team.

I think you're naive. This guy is fine to play, he doesn't want to since he knows he has the organization over a barrel. Doesn't sound like a warrior to me, sounds like a free loader.

What makes you think he's fine to play? Has he not played hurt in the past?

if he comes back, potentially he will be rested and will have a 10-game regular season (with a week off in the middle, plus the 10 days after the thanksgiving game)...this could actually benefit the team in the long run

Typically when you are on the PUP it really means you end up being out 6 to 8/9 weeks because a player can't practice while on the PUP. They come back and need a few weeks to get back into game shape.

Everyone needs to just calm down and let Coach Woicik do his thing. He will get those players in shape, but only when they are ready. The starters are already ready to go.

Spit Sunflower seeds all over the field.

I am not going to jump onto the "cut him" bandwagon, but even the staunch Rat supporters will admit their is something fishy here, if they're honest. Whether it's Rat, the organization or some combination of the two, there is no reason he should be in this situation. No one should be surprised if more info comes to light, i.e. a more significant injury or an internal rift, but something doesn't add up. Based on the info we have as fans, that's fact.

I am so sick of Jay Ratliff, it's long overdue to move on from him and his BS

Yep.

A bunch of people have never liked Ratliff and I can't figure out why. I'm afraid a lot of it is that he was never the 350 lb tub of lard 34 NT they dreamed of. Which is absolutely stupid.

I love Jay but this is just stupid.

This is probably just Dallas punishing him for his DUI after the Brent ordeal. Doesn't make any sense so it seems like something this front office would do.

I've been a huge Ratliff supporter but it's almost time to cut bait with him... He's breaking down too much and not nearly worth that kind of contract.

If Spencer sits out week 1 as well, that's a hell of a lot of money missing the game after suffering minimal injuries with significant time to return.

When does the team start asking the trainers what's going on with all the injuries that seem to progress as the players have time off.

Maybe nobody should get time off to recover in the trainer's room. It's like the Bermuda Triangle. Many go in, few come out.
