"The best thing about it, it feels like we have chemistry. It's like a whole new feel. I mean I just sit back and watch it and soak it all up like 'Hm, we're actually getting along and the chemistry's good' and I just think we're on the right track. So I think if we keep that up and take this whole attitude of wanting to win and wanting to do things together into the season I think we're going to be a force to be reckoned with."

- Jay Ratliff (from Ch. 4 / KDFW Dallas sportscast blurb Sat. night)

I was taken aback when I heard the above so I had to transcribe it. His tone was like: he was genuinely surprised and couldn't believe it, team chemistry was actually good for a change (subtext, it was really, really bad before ...)

Makes me think the team was really a mess last year. Was it just Mr. Owens to blame? Sounds like it was a more widespread deal.

What a coincidence. Get rid of the **** and the locker room no longer smells.

So we're "actually getting along" now?? As opposed to faking it last year and blaming the media:eek:

Hope all this chemistry translates to some forced turnovers, solid pass protection, and a more mentally focused team.

He was a locker room lawyer. Don't kid yourself.

I am sorry but there is zero evidence to back up that ellis was a bad locker room guy.

He was a good teamate who whined about his status in the off season, nothing more than that.

don't put stuff on the guy no one can back up, he is gone, just let it go.

when you see highlights of the defensive sidelines from last season, it was ellis talking to the guys, it was ellis trying to motivate them.

He was a good teammate.

jerry thought very highly of ellis for a reason

find me one iota of evidence to back your stance up

there are article after article saying he was a great locker room guy.

hopefully someone will chime in and back me up on this.

ellis pissed and moaned to the media but he was a great teammate, and there isn't a single thing to indicate otherwise.

you seem like a reasonably smart dude, don't fall in line with the hyperbole of others.

yeah i agree that i think Ellis was not a bad locker room guy as I did read a few items myself saying so.

Although I do think he did have a distraction type quality to him with his whining in the offseason, I feel he was let go because he is aging and considering who we have to take his place, makes his cost to be too expensive.

Personally I did hammer on him here in the past, but I hate whiners, and personally thought it was good of Jerry to release him. Overall though and especially before the past 3 years, he was a solid player for us.

That's very interesting.

Jay Ratliff is one of the players who publicly defended Terrell Owens after he was released. Rat labeled Owens as the fall guy and said he just didn't understand the move.

There is no doubt all of the *****ing and moaning from Ellis added to the poor chemistry.

That is the correct way to handle it with the media.

His whining added distractions for the team and I'm sure Anthony Spencer felt real confident when he pouted about playing time and getting it. Essentially saying play me or i'll start an uproar.

Let's not forget that **** with him and RW.

But I don't care about chemistry if we don't win. They don't have to be friends don't need to be family they don't even need to talk to each other as long as #6 comes. I don't give a **** if their all buddies if they continue to lose.

Chemistry does mean something, but isn't much help when your LT is getting too slow to protect your QB's blind side or when you have a down OL and no one is capable of stepping up to replace him.
