Huh. Would bring attention to FAU not seen since when Lane Kiffin was there for a few years. He better be able to recruit some studs at LB lol

FAU every once in ablue moon pumps out NFL players. Hopefully he pans out there if selected.

I wouldn't put too much stock in him landing at FAU. If he's serious about coaching, I'm pretty sure several HBCU programs would be interested in Ray.

Think regardless if he goes there it'll be a place just to spring board elsewhere if successful. But keeps him close in S Florida-if that's where he's still at, and at a D-1 school.

FAU isn't a big school, but they are in a loaded $$$ city/area, and if he can bring some excitement to the team I think they could start getting more boosters.

Just read this:

From NYtimes, free article.

Lewis’ old buddy, fellow Pro Football Hall of Famer Cris Carter, is the Owls’ executive director of player engagement and is expected to be a good resource for Lewis. A big hurdle for Lewis is, unlike Sanders, he doesn’t have any previous college coaching experience.
“Ray wants it bad,” the source briefed on Lewis’ thinking said. Lewis lives five minutes from the FAU campus. “He really wants it.”
Lewis, however, is not considered a serious candidate at this point, according to a source involved in the coaching search.
The frontrunner for the FAU vacancy, according to multiple sources involved in the search, is Ole Miss offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. The 31-year-old son of former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis, who lives a half-hour from Boca Raton, is the play caller at a hot Rebels program and runs the nation’s No. 2 offense, putting up 7.58 yards per play.

I feel like for college and the schools in need of a boost, getting someone like Ray isn't the worst thing if his main "skill" is connecting with 18-21 year olds and getting them to run through a wall for him. Weis may have more technical knowledge, especially on the offensive side, but FAU is obviously like the 8th in line for FL schools for recruiting. Obviously Ray would need competent coordinators, but I think the coaches that could be like Dan Campbell could have easier success in the NCAA.
