Top Ravens’ stars could be shopped… There have been some quiet rumblings that Baltimore could be willing to trade one or both of defensive stars Ray Lewis and Chris McAlister as part of major overhaul of the Ravens’ roster.

How much would you give for one or both of them?

I don't think there is room anywhere on our roster for Chris McAlester. On the other hand, I think Ray Lewis still has a little gas in the tank. We could use him at linebacker. I think he would be too expensive from a cost/benefit analysis, but I think he would be an asset to the defense. Not sure about the locker room, but he does bring fire.

Only way McCallister fits is at FS and at a much lower cap number

A worn out cassette of "Hysteria" from Def Leppard and my lucky flannel boxers (after they’ve been washed, of course).

McAlister is no where near the player he once was and its really not a need position. Lewis is still be an above average player and could fill a need position.

I think you could make room for a player who is better than any other DB on the current roster.

I also think Lewis has 4-5 good years in him. Remember when the Chargers thought that Jr. Seau was done?

Why not trade Glover straight up for McAlister? The dude is a talented CB and we could move Henry to FS. Glover will probably be cut anyway if he doesn't restrucuture.

I like the idea but switch the positions....keep Henry at cb and move McAlister to FS.

McAlister is much faster than Henry, he has also made multiple probowls at CB. Either way I would be happy with McAlister as a FS or CB. I think the Ravens would agree to this trade. DT is a major weakness and Glover is still one of the best 4-3 DTs around.

I would take either guy. If we could sign McAlister, we could slide Henry to FS, play Newman and McAlister in bump and run and have Glenn available as your 3rd CB. That gives you a lagit 4 guys that can cover man to man all over the field. Frees up Roy for what he should be doing. You bring in Lewis and all of a sudden, you got a pretty talented ILB, with considerable experience in a 34. All of a sudden, you got Burnett, James, Lewis and Ware as your starters. That is a very formidable LB corp. With those guys and the youth we have on the DL, it allows you to play pressure defense all over the field. It would be monstrous. Automatically creates depth at just about every position, defensively. You mark your defense as a finished product and look twords the OL and WRs. Possibly even QB for FA and the draft. I would do it. I would consider moving Ellis, Glover and/or some combination of picks.

With all the injuries he's had recently and the rule changes McAlister isn't the cb he used to be.

Only problem with Lewis is that he doesn't want to play in a 3-4. He beotched about doing it mulitple times. Plus he wants to get paid.

Well, if he gets traded, he's going to have to play. Besides, the fact that we play 34 and 43 might be appealing to him. Better then just straight out 34.

No thanks...we are more than two old players away from SB contention...so I wouldn't want to give up anything to get them.

Juke, I'm surprised. I didn't think you would see it this way.

McAlister is only in his 7th season. That's still prime time for him. As for Lewis, he's definatly getting a bit longer in the tooth but that may not be all bad. We have a lot of very young guys on our defense. A lot of guys who don't have a great deal of experience in a 34. Might not be so bad to have an older guy who knows where everybody is supposed to be lined up.

It was his team...he was the emotional leader. That guy got the rest of the guys jacked up. If you've ever played with a really good player at any level, that pushes you. If that player is amped, you get amped too.

Forget those guys. I would LOVE to see Adalius Thomas play outside linebacker/DE for the Boys. He's the real beast (besides Reed) on the Baltimore defense.
