I live about 35-40 mins north of town...around 6 inches of snow and a nice coating of ice...more ice the rest of the day...I'm probably stuck in the house for at least another day, perhaps till Wednesday afternoon

Everyone wants to the HC to have ultimate power, until he does something with that power they don't agree with. Very good chance Sherman might be an excellent position coach. This may not be an indictment on his coaching ability or his performance, could just be his style and coaching philsophy just didn't fit what Garrett wanted in his organization. The move wasn't made hastily or without insight. Garrett has worked with Sherman for 4 years. He knew what Sherman was about, for better or worse.

It's Garrett's call to make, his job is ultimately on the line.

Just got an e-mail from Jen on the subject. For what it's worth, she liked Ray and was surprised, thought that he'd have no problem finding work elsewhere. Was glad for the unambiguous implication that Jason was in control of staffing decisions. She obviously likes Garrett.... a lot.

But I believe that Sherman's listening skills and nurturing manner may have ultimately cost him his job.

Sherman held sessions each Thursday during which his wide receivers could get things off their chests. But too often, players such as Terrell Owens, Patrick Crayton and Roy Williams would also blow off steam in public. I think Sherman probably became a little too "player friendly" for Garrett's taste. And though it might come across as heartless to interview a man for the head-coaching role and then basically dump him a few days later, Garrett has to surround himself with people he trusts.
