Practice Squad RB Israel Abanikanda signed to the practice squad

Rico was named as the starter his sophomore season after running for almost 800 yards as a freshman. He was then derailed by a rash of injuries that followed him into the NFL.
Davis peaked as the #2 in 5 seasons, never eclipsed 100 carries and barely eclipsed 500 yards.
Talent wise Davis isn't close to the level of a healthy Doudle!
Ew, I don't know Jim. I personally think they are on about the same level as far as NFL trajectory.

What you say may be true, but it doesn't mean a whole lot.

But it's the Jets.
Naw, this guy's been a fumbling knucklehead so far in the NFL. Nobody like a fumbling RB that gets your franchise QB lit up. Don't get me wrong. I'm low-key stoked about his measurables. Scope his RAS.

I mean, he was on a roster with McCaffrey and Mason, so I get Shannahan liked his traits enough to check him out, but he got cut for being unreliable. So, it's not a Jets thing.

I love his potential if he can figure it out. I hope he tightens up on it.

He's a good player. Not sure about his measureables. Just loved his college tape. The guy can play. Similar to Blue, though, he needed to build some strength to play consistently in the NFL.

Yes it took him now into his 4th season to show the team he's ready so he is coming along he has arrived he just needs more snaps just like Rico.. If Malik Davis was given 15 carries a game I bet he'd start showing out a little bit as well Sometimes guys take a while to develop and that's why people need to be patient with Blue as well...
I agree. He's a better player now.

Another guy I thought would develop well was Aaron Shampklin. But he got an injury settlement then went elsewhere.

I disagree I watched Malik Davis in college at Florida he's been in the same exact spot Rico has been it took Rico into his 4th year did show anything in the NFL and needed a shot and now it's Malik Davis''s turn if they gave him the ball like a starter he would be able to show more he's just not going to get that opportunity while williams is still healthy.

By the way leads me to this because you think so much of Dowdle, which by the way you spelled his name wrong,.

That even Carolina made him the backup at the beginning of the season it took an injury for him to get back on the field and and and show what he had to try to keep his job as a starter from Tuba Hubbard which by the way have you noticed the last three or four weeks Rico is no longer tearing up the league he looks good he's solid but Chuba Hubbard yesterday was the best back on the field...

So even now after what he did with the Cowboys after being also looked at as a number two when he got to Carolina he should have did enough to steal the job but even Carolina sees him as the backup..

Davis given that chance which he may never get I think he has now been waiting long enough He's finally in a spot where he's healthy and ready to go That he is exactly like Rico they took the same path and while they're built a little different They're always gonna be the number two choice. FACTS.

Right? Also, Dowdle was on the Cowboys since 2020 when he joined as a priority UDFA. It took him a while to get going just like Davis. Doesn't matter if was from injuries or whatever. Some guys take a couple years to get their chace to shine.

His measurable are closer to Bijan Robinson than Blue. He has bonefide elite athleticism. He's explosive **. He's got got the physical side. Can he develop mentally? That is the question.

Hey!

Tighten up.

I think yes. He's not really a knucklehead, per se. IIRC, he's a good character guy.

Not that I'm the best judge of character having been homies with you for almost 4 decades.

Hahaha

Eh, it's a practice squad signing. Basically a free look at a back the Cowboys probably liked coming out of the draft a few years ago. My guess is he signs one of those "futures" deals after the season and goes to training camp next year.

By the way Abanikanda is wearing number 30. The previous 30, CB Robert Rochell, signed with the Panthers off Dallas' PS. There is still an open spot with Malik Davis now on the 53.

I don't think a lot of Dowdle, I just recognize Davis as a spare part, just like every professional personnel evaluator has done going back to college!

THEY BOTH WERE spare parts until they weren't LOL when it clicks it will click..if not sorry im out,,

One another example nay Nashown Wright was a spare part until he wasn't Took him a while but he got there.. You do realize guys like Miles Austin Gave you absolutely nothing for the first three years they run a roster just sitting there doing nothing zero this zero that barely even got on special teams and then what happened broke out and became a starter..

I'm saying it took Rico the same amount of time and now Davis is next given an opportunity to show whether he can or can't is not come yet if he got that I guarantee he's right there...

It took them both a long time to figure it out That's my point now it's just getting the opportunity to show you've arrived that's the hard part..

Rico got lucky that Jerry and Mike wanted Zeke back because if not I don't think he'd got the opportunity if we'd have drafted a better running back or a higher draftee, Rico may have never got another shot.

Sometimes it's the timing...
