Re-sign Pickens or use that money on the defense?

What money? The Cowboys are 31 million over the 2026 salary cap. Thanks to Dak counting 74 million against the cap.
People keep thinking that Dallas is going all in to sign Pickens and Javonte and going to be active in FA but they shot their load this year. Don’t expect much. They will probably sell their soul to Prescott to restructure AGAIN! Just to try and get even in the salary cap.

And just as soon as the defense gets brought up to at least mid level, the offense will fall off a cliff to compensate and keep the mediocrity going.

They have to resign Pickens. Lamb is too inconsistent, runs the wrong routes, and drops passes.

Pickens is the only big play player on the offense. Otherwise, the offense has to rely on 10-15 play drives to score a TD without making a mistake (holding, etc).

Pickens is a luxury at this point.
Dallas’ defense was porous and is in dire need of a talent infusion across all positions and thus will require significant resources to give it legitimacy and take some of the pressure off of the offense.
The presence of Pickens only provides incremental improvement to an offense with Lamb, Ferguson and Williams. Moreover, Pickens appears to be the type of WR who checks out of games when he isn’t the focal point…not the type of player one would want to sign to a big contract.

I think fans have absolutely no idea and won't until we get somebody qualified to assess the defense.

Too many people here are armchair predictors we need quality coaching that can assess our talent and come up with a scheme that properly fits it and then add the talent we need.

The whole idea of dismantling other parts of the team and just throwing talent at the defensive side and hoping it works without assembling an elite coaching staff on that side of the ball is ridiculous.

On, D, we don't have talent. Must have the talent for the coaching to scheme w/.

Not true. In 2023 Dak led the league in TD passes, 69% completion percentage, 105.9 passer rating, and that was with Gallup and Brandin Cooks as the number 2 receivers. We had once of the best offenses in the league. We have a better run game now and Fournouy a better 2 than Gallup was. We wouldn’t fall off a cliff offensively. If we traded Pickens for Crosby I’d be happy.

At present, FLo is not a better #2 than Gallup was. Gallup was a stud until the injury.

Although, if you're referring strictly to 2023 for Gallup, I think I'd have to concede.

That’s what I’m talking about, 2023 when Dak had his best season…..with a washed Gallup and Cooks as the 2. I trust Flo as a 2, he has the tools and the drive, he works out on that field.
