The real reason julius isn't tearing it up is becuase we have no FB!! His entire football career he has been running behind a fullback and is used to it. Look at all the great rbs in the league they have tremendous leading fb, when you have no lead blocker its much harder to do what your capable of, so please stop with this crap about julius being crappy and sucking, and saying please play tyson thompson. How about we get julius a real FB and then well see what he can do.

Careful Reed, this is actually a rational line of thinking. That can get you in to trouble!

i mean i just think its common sense, we have no fullback, tomlison has neal, priest has richardson, all of these rbs have great fbs, we dont even have a decent one, we have 0. I think it has a huge impact on his running and any runners running ability.

I was thinking the same thing. I, at least, wish we would activate Lousaka. He's better than nothing.

OK Reed, I am willing to accept that as a premise. But then why is Thompson looking so good?

I'd think the reason is more Hambrick-like, in that when Emmitt was spelled teams didn't look to stop Hambrick. . .thereby making him look great. Same is possible for Tyson at this point.

However, in the late fourth quarter, I FINALLY saw the Julius Jones I was expecting. In the first 3.75 games he was just running straight ahead, right into his blockers, no cuts, no nothing! After the first 3 quarters of this debacle of a game I was thinking OK what has happened to this kid... he is NOT the same guy I saw last season.

Then BAM! he kicked it up a notch. He started cutting back, making some good moves to get the extra yards. Now... I just have no idea what happened for the change but I am hoping it is permanent.

I was thinking maybe he was falling victim to 'overcoaching'. And, perhaps, he finally said 'OK this is a bunch of crap I need to play like me and get something going'. I can only dream. :)

I never thought Julius was that great. He had three good games last year. The others, he was barely average.

The problem is simple our line is getting blown up consistently. No FB is going to help if hes having to block on our side of the LOS consistently.

It starts upfront with the OLINE. If the OLINE isn't blocking, the FB will be just ramming into the back of them. I see your point about having a good FB but the OLINE has to do its job first so the FB can get the LB not just run into the back of a OLINE that isn't getting any push...

tyson thompson was just running at full speed through the whole then falling down and diving for those yards, the difference is that when you have a fullback both go through the whole most of the time and the fb gets the linebacker then rb adjusts and seees where to go, but in our case its julius through the line, sometimes though cuase theres no holes a lot, and once hes through line its the linebacker right on him instead of the fullback picking up the backer. Same with runs the outside, by the way, we never run running plays to the outside, when last year we did.

Agreed. He's not cutting as much as he did last year, bouncing plays outside, inside the other direction, he runs the play as drawn up. While that DOES cut down on the NEGATIVE yards as BP said he wanted, it also cuts down on the big play. I hope he becomes much more instinctive again.

Ahh, if you notice, JJ isn't even getting thru the OLINE. They aren't blocking worth a damn... OLINE is PRIORITY, nothing works with them getting the job done....

Two things:

1) Stretching the field will allow more running lanes...look at the NFL stats accross the board..most teams are stuffing the run.

2) We need a more CREATIVE way to get the ball to JJ in the open field. Handing the ball off is one, BUT until we open lanes up for the kid, we need spread the field on some plays and get him one on one with some LB's...

Another thing I notice... or don't see at all it seems... is the draw play! JJ seems to excel on that play, but it was non-existent in that game.

And, of course you all are correct, the OLINE was pathetic against Oakland. I mean, they flat out stunk it up. Our two "probowlers" Adams and Allen need to step it up BIG time against Philly. They literally cost us the game. It really is frustrating to know the game was in our hands, Witten wide open at the end, Flozell missing a block that otherwise would have sprung JJ for an easy score. I mean, we beat ourselves. But, Oakland would've made the same argument had they lost.

That game was just U-G-L-Y!

With this in mind, I bring up what could be an excellent trade for the 'Boys. Trade Peerless Price to SF for Fred Beasley. That there, my friends, is one hell of a FB. Not only can he block, but he is a DAMN GOOD short yardage runner and excellent outlet receiver. Put him in front of JJ and see what happens. Then, after Price is gone, sign Andre Davis. Davis can AT LEAST handle the punt returns. How does that sound (because I know Dallas has the cap room to absorb this)?

Meanwhile the Oakland O-line knocked our D-line way off the LOS. Over and over and over again...

Polite was active and in there and it did not change anything.

The OL is why JuJo was stopped...

You didn't see it much last year either with Barnes.

for yall who thinks julius sucks then yall are crazy. tyson tompson ran better because he's fresher then julius. think about it julius runs about 20-25 times a game and tyson gets about 5 runs for about 20 or so yards. like ole boy said when emmit smith was playing and troy hambrick subed in for emmit troy had some pretty big runs. but when hambrick finally got the starting jobhe suck mad crazy
