Anyone remember the movie "groundhog day"? Mainly the part where the guy stepped in to the puddle of water every time. At some point, even he stopped stepping into the water. When are some fans going to stop making excuses and just say the truth. Jerry Jones does not know how to build a winning team. He's a rich fan that happens to own the franchise, no less, no more.

Domino effect of not having a DL --> 7 min drives by opposing team almost guranteed for a TD ---> Offense comes out and HAS TO SCORE EVERYTIME TO KEEP PACE?. Impossible.

Leading us too low T.O.P and inability to get anything going on the offensive side. Meaning we have to be perfect every possession and can't afford to punt.

Offense is as much to blame for the disaster this year. Not only can they sustain drives, they can't even score. Luckily, the defense has helped them set up an easy score that would otherwise be a stalled drive.

Its not the defenses fault for everything. The offense has been terrible and is more so to blame for this years debuckle.

The more you see of JJ, the more you come to the conclusion that the first six years of this ownership (i.e. the Super Bowl years) were more to do with beginners luck than sound judgement.

How else can you explain the next 18+ years?

They look like they're at a pre-game ping pong match conference.

Injuries on defense are certainly a part of this, but there is no excuse for the amount of yards given up in at least 3 games this year. It's embarrassing. Rob Ryan, who I was never a big supporter of, did more with the same amount if injuries last year.

I guess i'll blame the passing philosophy for giving up a NFL record 40 first downs on D

Well when you can't convert 3rd downs, that kinda leads to the defense always being on the field! Which leads to 40 1st downs. How people can't see our flawed passing philosophy has screwed this team up is beyond me. When your healthiest and most featured unit can't consistently stay on the field, that puts pressure on another unit to be stout and we know the defense can't be stout with all of their injuries now. Were you expecting the likes of Selvie, Hayden, Wynn, Marvin, etc to stop quality NFL OFFENSES or to start for that matter in July? If this vaunted passing attack could sustain drives consistently, maybe our defense wouldn't be on the field long enough to get 40 first downs period. Your asking Glass Joe to go toe to toe vs a Mike Tyson in his prime. Dallas being Glass Joe in that equation!!

Well, that really is a bunch of cast-offs out there trying to play defense in the NFL. Those are not the players--or in many cases, the players' backups--that they exepcted to have this season.

That stil doesn't explain the offense. I think the scheme is outdated and non-creative to begin with.

The injuries bother me the most. If Lee is out, then there's real trouble.
Otherwise, I would not jump off a cliff over one away game blowout loss.

That game, in the grand scheme of things, was only of average importance. The three remaining division games are where it all rests. Can't say I currently have a great feeling about any of them, but we can hope.

I still believe we beat NYG and OAK . I worry about GB and CHI. Then I don't worry as much vs Wash and Phi

New York is going to kick our arse. Manning went for 400 last time and we had to have 6 turnovers to win by 3

We are not getting 6 turnovers again

May I sum this up, please.

This defensive line was being built around four 30-something players.

No pass rush, no pass defense. Simple as that.

Someone who will remain nameless made the decision to ignore the offensive and defensive lines and now the chickens are coming home to roost.

Youth and talent wins over age. Especially in the trenches where players are continually being beaten on play after play.

Many have said this for a while here. It is not a popular view because it eliminates the possibility of a magical season coming from nowhere.

But someone made the decision to have a starting front d-line, in a year when you were changing the scheme to be some of the oldest guys on the team.

Or in the case of the o-line, sixty percent of it are back-ups and Oh No Bernadeau .
Eh, I dont really disagree, but Spencer and Crawford, both of whom would have played major roles, are under 30.

Think about 18 years for a second. I have kids who were 2 at the time, now married. I've had 2 additional kids, been married for 13 years/then Divorced. Had a 4 years relationship, Justin Bieber probably wasn't born the last time we won a Super Bowl.

First off everyone seems to be throwing bulls eyes at people who shouldn't be receiving blame.
We are 5-5 for the following reasons:

-Ratliff situation
-Anthony Spencer situation
-Hatcher being injured
-Ware being injured

-The entire Dline has been ravaged from the get go. If the starting unit was fully on the field, I believe this defense is top 15 easily. Props to Marinelli for the roster churning. Hard to turn water into wine, but Marinelli has turned water into Kool Aid.

-Injuries as a whole.
-The Defense has been plagued with injuries and having to fill with too many inexperienced players. I cannot get mad at Jeff Heath, or the Dline when coming into play when they don't have the experience to play at the expected level of the starters.

-LEADS ME TO REGRESSION OF CURRENT PLAYERS: AKA BRUCE CARTER. Where are you Bruce? You just don't seem interested in making plays. Tonight he looked lethargic. Uninterested. Ernie Sims at least has fire in him.

-Barry Church is SOLID. He isn't great, but he makes some sure tackles. He is well rounded, but not a world beater. I would prefer him almost as a WLB in the 4-3 regardless of his size.

-Mo Claiborne taking our 6th draft pick and being injured has hurt. B.W Webb isn't the answer in my opinion. Maybe the kid can improve but i do not like Webb's game.

-Predictable offensive playcalling: Vanilla style offense! We come into a game with a certain gameplay and do NOT deviate from it much throughout the game. We do not adapt well.

-We cannot utilize Dez if he is doubled. Why can't we move him in coverage? Why can't we put him in motion? I liked where they switched Dez and Cole, leading to the 44 yarder for Dez. We NEED to get DEZ in different positions. It just isn't right to not get creative with using our best weapon.

-Inconsistency on the offensive side. Penalties, and untimely drops. It seems like Romo has been given a rifle that when it fires it is dangerous, but half the time it never shoots. I feel that our offense is faulty in the aspect we cannot get it going due to dumb mistakes.

-Checkdowns to Witten in situations Romo could scramble. Younger Romo would scramble for a first, making him dangerous. More mature Romo dumps it off.

-Lack of variety in the playcalling, no screens, players in motion hurt us.

-Running gameplan was great, but seriously. Let us put Hannah and Escobar on the field? We did not put our best players on the field. It was great running the ball what did you expect when our defense is wrecked? Teams often run the ball when they have a solid defense. This was going to be a shootout regardless of the situation and our WR never got into a groove.

I don't blame Romo, Ware, Witten, or Jerry Jones.

Romo is a great QB. He has never had a legit defense, or a great HC. He has been surrounded by mediocrity. Ware puts in a great effort whenever he is on the field. The man plays harder than anyone even when hurt. For goodness sake, he was our best rusher and had one leg!

Witten is solid. He is not over athletic but he is a HOF caliber tight end.

I don't blame this on JJ. JJ has done alot that he could to put Dallas in the positions that we have been in, we just haven't been lucky.

JJ brought in Parcells and contributed to a great core of players. We were in position to win the division numerous times but coaching and injuries have always been our bane. JJ has been able to lure players in who we thought all would be major contributors. It is hard to predict busts, etc. It is hard to tell when a player will cash in and stop playing with intensity.

-Romo's fumble in SEA? Crayton's drop against G-Men? Austin not seeing the lights against Gmen? Getting pummeled against Minn in the playoffs? How about against WAS last year when our entire team was hurt? These aren't JJ mistakes. We could easily be praising the man if a few of these horrible mishaps went our way.

I do condemn JJ for letting Ryan go. I was a big Rob Ryan fan though.

P.S I think Murray is a great RB, and Lee a great LB. These players often get injured because they play with passion and intensity. It is their playstyle that gives their bodies up. Unfortunately.

Alright come quote me and tear me to shreds. Pull a Brees on me and pick me apart.

the real reason was reality, some seen it others seen nice fluffy clouds.

There was no luck involved. On the contrary, he did things the way they should be done int he NFL. Owner hires the best football guy available and stays out of his way while he (owner) worries about finances and running the business end of the franchise. Jerry is such an idiot egomaniac that he can't go back to the formula that worked for him in the past.

It wasn't beginners luck, it was a fire breathing head coach who refused to accept defeat as a "process", and a GM who feared the coach's wrath as much as the players did. When the GM couldn't stand it anymore, he fired the coach, created a "let's all get along" atmosphere, and mediocrity has been the result of that atmosphere. The most recent Superbowl win (sad that I can't even remember for sure what year that was) was the players playing well despite the coaches. (Moose even said that.) As Jimmy Johnson has said, (paraphrasing) "fear is the greatest motivator a coach has, and in Dallas, there is no fear."

I guess in summary, that's how I explain the next 18+ years.
