Reason to root for the Giants

I may be wrong, but if the Giants have the best wild card record, if they get past the first round, wouldn't they have to go to Seattle? Dallas would have to play the weaker team record since they are the NFC best.

3 would play 6; 4 would play 5. If 3 wins, and Giants win, we play Giants 2nd round.

Then NY will need to still possibly go into Seattle or Atlanta even. As long as they are on the road.
too many factors right now to root for a win.

NEVER root for a rival unless they are eliminated and can help us in some way.

Nope...the best the Giants can get (with a Det loss to Dallas) would be 5 or 6 seed...and should they win the wildcard round, would be coming to Dallas...either them or Washington/ GBay/Detroit. It's either going to be a three-peat vs. the division or a NFC North rematch in the divisional round.

If the Cowboys get the #1 seed they'll play the lowest seeded team left after the Wild Card round. They would automatically play the #6 seed but if the #3 seed advances then they'd play the winner of the #4/#5 game.

Or with a Giants loss to the Eagles Thursday. I don't think it's a given the Giants beat the Eagles in Philly. Eagles win, and we're No. 1 seed and the Lions and Eagles games become meaningless for us in terms of playoff seeding.

The Giants would be going to Green Bay or Detroit...Washington to Atlanta. Giants look like 5 seed...the only way they are sixth is to finish behind Washington, which ain't happening. Best chances are for Giants/Packers/Detroit divisional opponent, unless Commanders upset Atlanta at home...then you get another go at Cousins and company.

Still a great chance that both Washington and Giants represent the Wildcard games. Division winner Seattle if they win out will get bye on Wildcard weekend. Atlanta and Green Bay with best chance to host wildcard games. Detroit will need some help if we beat them next weekend.

Not a given but we have seen before how the Giants often close pretty good down the stretch...at least when they are as good as they have been this year. Wentz is the problem and the Giants secondary seems to get better and better.
