Caught this coming in this morning...

Greenberg: So Big Ben has broken your all time TD record for the Steelers.
Bradshaw: Oh that's fine, I didn't even know that until your producer told me. The kid's gonna break all my records and that's how it should be.

Golic: That's happening a lot this year. Look at Romo...
Greenberg: Yes, he broke Troy Aikman's season TD record.
Golic: No, Staubach's. No wait...
Bradshaw: Danny White's record guys...
Golic: That's right, Danny White. That would be a good trivia question. You automatically mention Aikman or Staubach when you talk Cowboy QB records. White was a good QB...
Bradshaw: Hey listen guys, White wasn't good, he was great. He gets forgotten in the shuffle of Cowboy QB's. That guy's only crime was following Staubach. People measure success on SB's, but that's not what it was all about. People don't realize how good Danny White was, he was a terrific QB, a great player. He got beat in those championship games and takes the blame he doesn't deserve. I remember that SF game with Montana to Clark. I really felt for Danny in that game, but it wasn't his fault...

I have been saying the same about White for years. The knock is he did not carry us to the SB? I maintain it takes a team to get to the SB

I think we've both been saying this for some time now. It's just unfortunate that DW never got the recognition he deserved.

Those are kind words by Bradshaw but Danny did fumble away that game in the final minute or two, that was his fault. Even so he was a good QB.

Maybe it's time for Danny White to get some recognition. But then Don Meredith didn't get the recognition he deserved either. It just seems like Cowboy fans don't appreciate these guys and we all know it's because they didn't win SBs. I'm pleased and excited by how Romo is doing but sure hope we win at least 1 SB with him as our QB or he'll be another QB underappreciated by Cowboy fans. Look at how so many fans turned on him after his lousy game against the Eagles.

I agree. Mereidith had to go through the rough early years as this team was developing and was successful on helping the Cowboys to be competitive. Unlike today when new franchises are given top draft picks and player off other teams rosters the Cowboy started off with garbage and no pick until after our 1st season.

Also remember that, if not for a tackle on Drew Pearson in the closing seconds of that San Fran game, Drew would have gone the distance and Danny would have been immortalized in Cowboy lore. Amazing how two plays made by inches in that game helped define both Joe Montana and Danny White, the rise of the 49ers as the team of the decade and the decline of the Cowboys.

Danny White was a heck of a punter too.

Bradshaw gets knocked for being a goofy cuss now and then, but I gotta tell you, I appreciate his candor. Some guys will not ever give you there opinion. They dance around stuff all the time. Bradshaw is critical when called for, praises when due.

Yeah, I hated Bradshaw as a steeler and have never thought he deserved to be in the HOF; but as a guy on the football shows I like him.

I read an artical a while back that Terry makes millions for coming off as a country bumpkin but those who know him know that is more of an act than reality. I of course I don't always agree with Terry but I do enjoy listening to him because he treats football for what it is suppose to be FUN.

I listened to Bradshaw speak once at a convention. He is very intelligent. Don't let the act fool you.

As for White, I thought he was a tremendous QB. But in Dallas, you have to win the Superbowl to be considered a success. This isn't Minnesota after all. :D

That said, Danny was a much better quarterback than he will ever get credit for.

It took me years to realize just how good Danny was. He had the misfortune of following the franchises greatest QB.

Hmmmmm? I remember a quote by Bradshaw; "The diffrence between Danny White and Roger Staubach. Danny White Wins games, Roger Staubach is a winner."

Don't forget "NO DANNY!!! NOOOOOOOO!!!!" it's not only the lack of superbowls that makes people undervalue him. I grew up watching him and just like with Roger you just knew he'd find a way to win it in the end, with DW you knew he'd find a way to loose the big ones in the end, great stats QB, not a great QB IMHO.

Danny brought us back in that playoff game in Atlanta. Was that 1981? He also engineered a regular season comeback against Miami once. I'm sure there are more that I've forgotten. The Cowboys have had some great come-from-behind wins throughout our history with different QBs at the helm, not just Roger.
