Receivers going to the ground unnecessarily

It seems like almost every catch involves a receiver going to the ground unless they are wide open. Too many times that results in the ball coming out of their hands at the last minute and there being an incompletion. Why not stay on their feet and make the play?

Dez sucked last night, but how many times have we seen Dez fail to hold on to the ball and it be ruled an incomplete pass? Last night could have easily been called incomplete, on the catch that he fumbled it away. As a side note, how can one of the strongest receivers in the NFL be so ****** at holding on to the ball after the catch?
