The end of the road for Pacman?

June 20, 2007 5:20 PM

I just hung up the phone with a member of the Titans organization who indicated that several people in the front office are actually relieved to hear that Pacman Jones has finally been charged in the Las Vegas strip club incident that preceded a triple shooting in February.

No one is named in the shooting that left a club employee paralyzed.

Once again, Titans head coach Jeff Fisher tried to distance his team from Jones.

"Again, as I said several days ago, these are his issues. We have moved on and we will continue to move on. & As far as I am concerned it's no longer our business. Those are his issues and he has to deal with the commissioner's rules and we have moved on. ... From a personal standpoint you wish him the best, but from a professional standpoint he certainly let us down so we have moved on. ... I don t have any expectation to talk to him."

At this point, playing football again is the least of Jones' worries. If convicted, I think he'll spend some serious time behind bars. Would that be punishment enough or should NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell go ahead and pull the plug permanently?

Pacman could always apply for reinstatement if he made it consecutive months without being questioned by police. But unless something dramatic happens, like a brain transplant, he will never play another down in the NFL.

Interesting that TO hired a security man away from the Cowboys to protect him. Wonder if that he does with every team he has played for or if he has a higher record for some of the people that the Cowboys have hired.
