So I guess the fact that he hadn't practiced with the team or knew anything about our defense shouldn't have mattered?

Could he have done any worse probably not but you don't throw a player you just signed out on the field.

You are absolutely right... but... all things considered... he had one advantage over the disadvantages you mentioned... he had just played them... maybe could have prevented ONE TD... (as I beat my head against the wall)

eh....

How well do you think he would have done without knowing his assignments? Better than guys who do know the assignments?

Man, that's a pretty wild thing to imagine.

Is he better equipped than anyone else to be our FS? Not if he doesn't know where he's supposed to be on a given play. It isn't a cookie cutter job with only one assignment.

Yeah and by being out of place on a given assignment could have given up one too.

There is a reason why coaches talk about chemistry and familiarity. It isn't 11 robots out there pre-programmed by the coaching staff to do what they want. It's 11 human beings trying to pull together at the same time.

He played them in a different system. It's not the same. Now could he have pointed out some tendencies....maybe....but don't you think Payton would have changed things around?

Welcome to the NFL, where one week a guy makes every play and the next looks clueless and the next is up and down.

There's no such thing as perfect.

Parrish was inactive for the SF-NO game.

He hadn't played for the 49ers last 3 games and he likely wasn't getting many snaps in practice there since he was going to be inactive.

Agree with you. Parish must know the system first before you can just throw him on the field. Not only that, he will be evaluated on his performance in the weekly practices also he has to perform better than Keith Davis. He may not start this season but Parcells might put him in some games rotating him with Davis. We Saints fans have the same dilemma but it`s the middle linbacker position. We have a above average Middle Linbacker (Danny Clark)seating on the bench while Mark Semenoau (I know I miss spelled his name) is starting. If you notice in the Cowboys game he could not get away from the blocker in front of him and he does this every game. One of the reasons why JJ bust that big run on the Saints at the beginning of the game.

Maybe he could have pointed out those tendancies to Zimmer from the sidelines.

I don't know what to expect from Parrish myself. He has not been playing much so it is hard to know what he can do or not. Hopefully he will get a chance to show what he can bring to this team.

i'm just saying, there are a lot of Parrish threads popping up. Dude was waived and is really a SS. I don't think odds are even 50/50. My bet is this thing won't get fixed this year. Obviously are coordinators aren't creative enough to scheme a temporary fix to the problem. They just keep running bodies out there and hoping it works.

If the coaching staff needs to rely on a player who was just cut for insight into another team's tendencies then that coaching staff must really suck.

This game wasn't about not knowing tendencies -- it was about not executing.
