The so-called dress rehearsal game. I've got an eerie feeling about this.

I wouldn't treat this like a typical 3rd preseason game. The team has already looked really good. The offense is moving the ball nicely, and the defense looks OK, though depleted up front right now from little nagging injuries.

The game's in Seattle, and no doubt, Carroll would like to get that home base fired up and really go after Dallas with all sorts of blitzes. The Cowboys had better gameplan and prepare like a regular season game because they're coming after Romo full tilt. Bank on it. He's going to take some hits if Dallas opens it up.

Normally, I believe in the full-half approach to these rehearsal weeks to get ready for the real thing in two weeks. We know they'll shut it down for the last preseason game, so this is the time to fine-tune. This is the first real football played generally.

But this already looks pretty tuned up for the Giants compared to most preseasons.

I'd play Romo a quarter with quick routes, screens, and a lot of run plays. Get Zeke about 12-15 carries, however long that takes. Elliott needs the work for sure. Otherwise, I'd set the starters down shortly after the first quarter and take a whooping. Let the Seahawks have their big meaningless party. Let Dak face that head on and continue to grow under fire.

All in all, this has been a pretty clean preseason on the injury front. Let's keep it that way.

I want to face the Giants fully loaded.

I agree.

I'd definitely play Elliott. He's got to get some work in live games these last two games.

Romo? Quick hook on him.

why are people so afraid to play our players? We have been doing this dance as fans for over a decade.

When did Seattle become a big blitzing team? The giants are the team that will blitz us like crazy. They have man corners and collins is a missile on top of the excellent 4 lineman they have.

I want zeke and everyone to play so they are not going into the giants game without any game experience picking up rushers working on protections.

I am more worried that elliot will not play at all in the preseason and make a mistake opening day and get Romo killed like gronkowski did in 2010.

unfortunately jerry made it sound like elliot will not play thursday either.

All these people saying don't play Romo will be the same ones complaining that he should have got more work in if by chance he has a slow start to the season. It never fails.

I think Seattle isn't nearly the team some people think they are. They are living on reputation these days.

Something stinks about Elliott if he's again held out. This was deemed a minor hamstring issue............... that's now going on for two weeks.

Has he been practicing full speed in practice?

Agree and disagree at the same time...LOL.

Can't play scared, so treat is as usual, and play them as a normal tune up game. but also play them a little less than normal as a tune up game.
Play some longer that need it, some less.
This also depends on the status of several players. Now without Dez, and if Tyron Smith does not play, and it's Chaz Green. Then yes. Romo should play less. Zeke needs to play, he needs some real game reps. If he sits out this game, do we really think he will play the last game. He needs at least as many series as Romo gets, but would prefer a few more, get some with Dak. If Dak is going to be the back up, then Zeke needs game time with him as well.

I'd keep Romo in for the entire half assuming Tyron is playing. If Chaz is in, then I'm playing Romo 1 quarter and Elliot is going to run the ball on 80% of the play calls while Romo is in.

You posted that as I was typing mine...said about the same thing.

You'd like to get Elliott carries behind the #1 OL. The #1 OL likely isn't going to play much, if at all, in that last game.

So if Elliott doesn't go Thursday................ hmmmm

Yes, that's what I mean, if he doesn't play this week, then what are the chances he plays next week. He needs those reps this week.

There's a good reason to be careful. We can't seem to get through a practice without concussions, hamstrings, stingers, groins, etc. pulling
our players out of practice and on to rehabs. Our frontline players for the Giants game are falling like flies and now you want to expose Romo
to 1 big hit and out for the season. I don't... Zeke, yes let him run for 3 quarters to get him ready. Play those young guys and let them
get hurt. I'm keeping my big guns for when they're needed for money games.

Dallas need to get ready, yes there are risk but shying away from those risk is not going to benefit Romo or the Cowboys Romo has not seen much action since Thanksgiving and needs to be out there. This is all part of the job and if Romo can't make it through 1/2 of play in pre season then we are in trouble.

It's not that it's Seattle. It's the situation.

I don't want a serious injury to a primary player in a meaningless game, and since the team looks good so far, let's just get to Week 1 as healthy as possible.

Some will complain if we win the Super bowl and are awarded the top pick in the draft in the same year.

Rick Gosselin sure agrees with you.

He wrote an article recently saying how skewed the risk reward is to be playing Romo.

Especially since they need to see as much of Dak and Showers as possible to know what to do at backup and maybe even the 2017 draft. He seems convinced that although Dallas is happy with what they see, they need to see much more to be feel semi-comfortable. All the extra reps are huge.

Personally, I'm okay if Romo plays a quarter. Wouldn't complain if it was less though.
And yes, I want Dak out there some with the ones.

I am pretty sure they will have tight ends helping out on the line just like they have the previous two weeks. Fans have been doing this for years, usually because one of the lineman was hurt and no one wanted Romo to play and he is always fine.

Seattle doesn't really blitz and its really just a matter of keeping bennett and clark off of romo. Bennett has had some great games vs free but I imagine they don't do anything to expose romo. Honestly outside of those two who really scares you on the line? Avril? and I can't imagine they are sending linebackers downhill at the qb if we are running the ball well.

Minnesota pushed this seattle defense around last week. I imagine we will see a similar approach, they are light up front so it will be a lot of running and quicker stuff in the passing game.

the 2010 team took the preseason really carelessly and didn't play many guys and the offense was not in rhythm to start the year.

I have no worries they will not expose anyone to any unnecessary hits.

It only takes 1 missed block by a tackle or TE. It's not like that hasn't happened before. It's a risk we don't need to take. Romo knows
how to play and how to exploit the Giants.

I'm more interested in what the defense does against their Ones. I'm not that worried about the offense. I'd give Tony three series and call it a night, then let Dak go the rest of the first half with the starters

People are afraid because they either think our players are either extremely fragile, unconditioned, or just plain unlucky with injuries.

Alot has changed since the 90s. It does seem that we baby players more, but i understand the view of protecting your football assets. I just dont like it.

our guys in the 90s never played in the preseason. They were all like adrian peterson and watched. In the mid to late 90s I can't really recall emit and aikman ever playing. It seemed like they never did.
