I don't understand it. The way New Orleans ran the ball all day that's just conceding the game to them.

At any rate....

Its obvious that after 7 years the man doesnt give a **** about playoff wins.

He was waiting to get out of the game so he can line up at the nearby buffet line. :lmao2:

I agree. His fantastic DC dialed up a way to give up 200 yards on the ground. Why punt it? Once again, the coach who is so freaking great and who we would all kill to have coaching the Cowboys falls short, and bungles the game at the end.

Brilliant!

That reminded me when Campo had us punt against the Giants in 02 and we never got the ball back as we lost 21-16.

At least Romo didn't make a conscious decision to lose the game. Reid however....

And in 2001 down by 2 scores to Denver on Thanksgiving with 3 minutes left, he punted. And they were down by 2 scores because he figured he'd rather not go for 2 pts earlier in the game (not much earlier).

I said it in another thread earlier today, Andy reid turns into marty schottenheimer for some reason in the playoffs. Time management and play calling get funny under pressure for him.

I also said I thought the eagles would dominate the second half and win .....so what do I know..!

He choked that call big time. I sat here with my mouth wide open trying to figure it out.

he reverted back to his playoff calling form with that one.....

Remember when he would get Super Conservative in the playoffs.....Reid wussed out big time.

I was thinking of when the Ravens punted from the Colts 45, that could have been the momentum shifter...

When you convert a 4th down and 10 and get it called back because of a false start, it is only five more yards. With the way New Orleans was running the ball, any moron could see that they weren't going to get the ball back with just two timeouts left let along stop the Saints on the ground pounding the ball with Deuce. I hate the Saints, living in Louisiana, but there is one consolation::suxiggle: :disseags:

The stupidest thing about the call was that you have to stop the Saints whether you punt or fail to convert on 4th. The only reason to punt was that the Saints would have been on the edge of FG range after a failed 4th down conversion, so they could have made it a 6 point game instead of a three point game.

Even if the Eagles only convert 10% of the time, it's a good call, since a successful conversion almost always gives them a FG attempt and will sometimes result in a game winning TD.

Punting forces them to 1) stop the Saints, 2) drive the ball into FG range with under a minute left and no timeouts, 3) make the winning kick. Their chances of doing all three were probably less than their chances of converting the 4th and 15, and even if they don't convert, they still get a chance to do all those things, albeit from worse field position most likely.

Just a terrible decision with the game on the line.

Or in 2002 against the Niners when he decided to try a 55 yard FG at the two minute warning.

The kicker missed.

A minute later, Owens scored on Goodrich.

I was standing by the door of the Sports Bar waiting for it to happen. I wasn't going to stick around and listen to the eruption.

I didn't quite understand that either. I had lost track of the clock and thought there was more time than the less-than-two-minutes remaining-- but when I realized it was a minute-something and he was punting-- I thought "WOW!"
