This is one of those cases where if both parties stick to their story, we'll never know if he's guilty or innocent. Which is not good for him, even if he's found not guilty.

At this point not signing Bond isn’t about assuming guilt. It’s about being smart to not sign him until the legal process is played out.

No way I would ever sign a guy with this kind of dark legal cloud hanging over him. Until due process has taken place, he can and should be presumed innocent. But no way we should sign this guy until or if his name has been cleared.

It’s also very possible the league has a policy of warning teams not to sign guys in legal snafus regarding sexual assault, murder or other serious crimes. I’d don’t know that for a fact but i I wouldn't be surprised.
