you often hear things that someone has said before, and you keep hearing it, and eventually you believe it to be true. Sometimes it is not true.

One thing my calculator and I have recently learned that when you hear Art Monk retired the all time leading WR IS FALSE. He wasn't even close. Examine below


Monk retired after the 1995 season

Monk had 940 catches and 12,721 yards and 68 TDs

At the end of the 1995 season

Jerry Rice had 942 catches 15,126 yards and 146 TDs


This is not to say Monk was not a good Wr and not deserving of the Hall, but lets quit repeating over and over the falsehood that he was the leading reciever in NFL history when he retired

Using Irvins career totals and using only the first 12 years of Monks Career monk has 10,984 recieving and 60 TDs

so the answer is yes using the same period of time Irvin had better numbers

Anyway you slice it, Art Monk should have been in the hall of fame. Lynn Swann getting in and not Monk is an absolute travesty. Monk should have been in at his 4th try at least.

WOOHOO!! but Monk should already be in the Hall, and I won't be suprised to see him get inducted, which would snub Irvin, even though head to head, Irvin should be in 1st
