A somewhat fascinating -- and equally frustrating -- trend to open the season.

Minnesota is unexpectedly forced to start Shaun Hill. Philly unexpectedly decides to start rookie Carson Wentz. New England is unexpectedly forced to start first-time starter Jimmy Garappolo. Denver chooses to start first-time starter Trevor Siemien. Dallas is forced to unexpectedly start rookie Dak Prescott. (Am I forgetting anyone?)

Hill wins. Wentz wins. Garappolo wins. Siemien wins.

Prescott, of course, loses.

It's the same song and dance for this franchise. Other franchises don't bat an eye, while we can't put together a winning formula to save our lives.

The next Landry is not good. I've been saying it for almost a decade.

For some reason I'm not as upset with him today as usual.

Maybe I'm just used to watching his garbage..

I'm so used to bland football that I was loving all the misdirection and bootleg stuff.

It's the defenses, stupid. (well not you Dale, just the saying... um)

But let's draft more RBs.

I can't get over how outmanned the defense looked.

Our offense dominated ball control and the little bit that the Giants were on the field they made big plays.

Our offense has no explosion and our defense just sucks.

I felt like our strength would be stopping the run. Our run D was awful.

It has to be the play calling I don't just don't get it
Its not just the play calling. Dak was 2 for 10 on passes over 15 yards and most of them were not drops. If they can't stretch the field than Zeke better be more than worth his draft slot or we are not going anywhere.

The knock on Dak was his downfield accuracy. There really, really is a reason he dropped to the 4th round. Despite him showing some in vanilla preseason games, there is a chance that is an achilles heel here the team will need to address.

Those early drives without punching it in are killer, cause you can't count on that all game long...they're pros to.

Those throws were getting pretty bad as the game progressed and dumb luck a couple weren't picked, ending the game early

None of those were division games. Dallas is the only one out of those that had a division game that's always close.

That is thanks to coaching.

And it is about time that people face that reality.

If last year was not a big enough wake up call, this week should tell a bit too.

Garrett does not have what it takes. He definitely needs a defense that can stand alone while he fumbles about trying to get his offensive game right.

All of those teams, Minnesota, Philadelphia and Denver, have rock solid defensive coordinators.

Experienced winners.

I do not think Marinelli is the right pairing.

He had 2 absolutely perfect downfield passes in the preseason.

It is especially frustrating since the Cowboys presumably have more talent on offense than any of those teams and only needed 21 points to win the game.

Lots of talent and little production. Flashy car with no engine.
