Replacing Lost Snaps to Free Agency

We lost a significant number of snaps in free agency this year, over 1800 of which came from just four players -- Durant (linebacker); Selvie (defensive end); Parnell (tackle); and Carter (linebacker). Now, none of these players is really a standout or pro bowl quality player. They're journeyman types, some better than others, but they see the field often and eat up a large number of snaps collectively.

Getting Lee healthy means we have one of those losses covered. But, we still need to replace a moderately talented tackle, linebacker and defensive end. Where do you find such replacements -- i.e., players that are talented but still likely role players? How about rounds 3 (tackle), 4 (linebacker) and 5 (defensive end).

Its not rocket science. Snaps are lost, so you find some folks to fill them. People can get upset about not taking their pet cat but it's simple math that the Cowboys are doing.

Same with FS and Pass Rushing DE, they filled a NEED. The rest of the Draft with the STs LB and blocking TE as well, Dallas is building a TEAM.

Love local WR Goodley the rookie FA out of Baylor, reminds me of Steve Smith, potential STs returnman ace and could beat out Beasley for some snaps in the slot.

I get your point but we were pretty much covered even before the draft.

Hardy is a huge add
Lee replaces Durant
Hitchens replaces Carter
DLaw replaces Selvie and Spencer
Brent replace Melton
Weems was a decent replacement for Parnell, but Green could be even better

We still need a replacement for Murray and DHarris
Between DMC, Randle and RWilliams RB should be OK
I have no clue what we do at KR/PR. Maybe Dunbar or Dunn

I agree. What I've gathered from our offseason so far is:

1) we spent rounds 3-7 of the draft and mid-tier free agents on replacing the players we lost in free agency.
2) that being said, we must have enough confidence in our O-line to be okay with not replacing Murray.
3) we heavily invested in improving our edge rush and added a possible FS (two of our biggest weaknesses).

I think one of the UDFAs may get a crack at KR/PR.
