Report: Broncos 'not all that interested' in Tony Romo
The Broncos appear inclined to ride it out with their young, inexpensive quarterbacks.

Perhaps there's something to this Trevor Siemian-Paxton Lynch competition, after all.

With the former essentially making the Pro Bowl, and the latter currently training with a quarterbacks coach, the Denver Broncos are "not all that interested" in veteran Tony Romo, per Mike Klis of 9News.

ESPN's Adam Schefter last week similarly reported that Denver is not "in play" for Romo, who's expected to be unloaded this offseason by the Dallas Cowboys.

But speculation mounted when the gunslinger was spotted with John Elway at a victory party for Donald Trump, setting the internet aflame. Romo reportedly named the Broncos as his preferred landing spot, and rubbing elbows with Elway was interpreted as progress toward a Mile High marriage.

No coincidence that this would be leaked after Romo and Elway were spotted in the same room. No doubt they talked but Elway isn't going to come out and say they are interested. First off, that would be collusion unless Romo has permission to talk to other teams but the Broncos best play at this point is to seem disinterested and see what happens. They want to reduce the price it takes to get him or possibly get him for free.

If they say anything different than that would be tampering since the new football year hasnt started. They would be fined and lose a draft pick. So they're not gonna say they love him and want him

The former essentially making the pro bowl? Did I miss something? Did the AFC go like 6 alternates deep at QB?

We'll see. They'd be stupid not to be interested.

I've been saying for weeks I didn't think Denver would be interested because Romo would be a progress stopper for both young QBs, one of which (Lynch) they gave up 3 picks including a #1 last April. Siemian who didn't take a snap his rookie year showed promise in 2016 as the starter. He won his first 4 starts and ended up with 8 wins. He passed for almost 3500 yards and had 18 TD's. His numbers weren't mind blowing but he definitely has potential if he continues to get the reps needed to improve. Paxton Lynch was 1-1 as a starter and put up 223 yards and a TD vs Atlanta. He completed almost 66% of his passes in that game so he has potential but bringing in Romo would stunt the progress of both QBs. Romo would be nothing more than a stopgap for a year at best because Denver needs to find out what they have in these two young QBs who aren't going to get much work backing up Romo until he goes down which is inevitable at some point.

Doubt Romo wants to be in a position where he's just coming in for a year to keep the seat warm for these two young QBs. In Denver he would have to deal with cold weather and he's never played very well in cold weather. He's only played 2 full games since 2014 and Denver has already gone the route of bringing in an aging veteran with injury concerns with Manning but they did so because of his great resume and they felt they were on the brink of a championship. They went after Manning because they were stuck with Tim Tebow but now their QB situation is much better. If they didn't want to pay Osweiler who played well for them and was a good fit, I can't see them wanting to take on Romo's salary knowing he's not likely to play a full season when they have two promising young QBs who won 9 games for them last season.

I think these are all great points. I think the Texans may be the best team for these reasons but Denver's prestige as a winning organization may draw Romo if he had the choice

Putting myself in Romo's shoes I wouldn't want to go to Denver because I would be nothing more than a stopgap for a year with 2 promising young QBs chomping at the bit behind me. Denver invested quite a bit moving up for Lynch in the draft this past April and if you keep Romo any longer than a season, Lynch won't get much if any opportunity until year 4. The progress of both young QBs would be stunted with Romo there. If I'm in Denvers shoes I would rather allow these two young QBs to battle it out in camp in 2017 and continue to improve. Whoever brings Romo in isn't going to be able to give him rest days in camp or sit him out of preseason games fearing injury like the Cowboys did because he's going to have to learn a new system and get familiar with the players. This is going to be one of the dilemmas any team bringing him in is going to have to deal with.

They can't be having to try and keep him out of harms way to keep him healthy, he's going to need reps. He's only played 2 full games since the 2014 season so he can't be given days off with a new team. The Cowboys were so fearful of him being injured they only gave him one series in the season finale. If it were me I would rather go to the Texans because Osweiler isn't the answer and it would be Romo's job as long as he can stay healthy. They have the #1 defense and appear to be on the cusp if they can get more efficient QB play, plus they play in a dome so cold weather isn't an issue.

The dilemma Houston would have is they're on the hook for $16M with Osweiler next season who's guaranteed that money and Romo won't come cheap. If you examine Romo's cold weather history it's not good, which is another knock against playing in Denver. If I were AZ I would dump Palmer for Romo, the Cardinals would be a great fit for him and Palmer has been up and down. They were the best team not to make the playoffs and they finished in the top 10 in both offense and defense.

I read an article that stated the Broncos might look at Romo if he was released and would consider accepting a big pay cut. Did not sound the promising. Denver, might have a look as a FA...But money will kill most teams interest.

Broncos are negotiating through the press hardcore. That is what I get from their constant chatter. They want him.

We don't need to make a move until March so it makes sense to sit back and wait for a couple/few teams to start a bidding war. Take the best deal as February comes to a close unless someone blows you away with a take it or leave it offer.

Romo would be one of the lowest paid starting QBs at his yearly salary. $15m is nothing for a veteran QB.

The Broncos are negotiating through the press. You cannot take what they are saying at face value. More likely the Broncos want the Cowboys to lower their asking price.

Romo is only going to be interested in playing for another couple of years anyway. If the Broncos feel that either one or both of their young QB's are not yet ready to lead their team to be competitive in the playoffs, which is a reasonable assumption, then Romo wouldn't be a progress stopper at all. If anything, he could help those guys and bridge the gap until Lynch is ready to take the reigns. The Broncos already have a really good defense and some fine talent on offense altogether. It just doesn't make sense that they wouldn't be interested at least somewhat in Romo.

Of course they are going to play it down now.

Michael Irvin entered the fray yesterday.
He feels that Denver absolutely should grab Romo and the he can give them 2-3 strong, contending years.

Denver wants him so badly. Have you heard their vets talking about the potential of Romo playing there? This is all posturing. In fact, if they actually did not want Romo, this report would not exist.
