Also---thank god they didn't trade up. Trading away picks in a draft this deep is stupid. This is the kind of draft that will define teams 5 years from now.

The Patriots will suck in a few years because they blew all their picks.
Who says they were willing to trade this year's picks? Could have been next year's one. Not that it really matters

The giving up picks part I understand.

But Harris is a superior talent IMO. At least in pure terms.

We could always justify Charlton as being something else.
I think Harris was the best pure RDE after Garrett, but his combine kind of scared me. Both him Taco I had in that tier below Garrett and Thomas and above Takk, Barnett and Watt. Id take Harris if I had to choose, but Taco does give you some gap flexibility.

Takk, I liked as an 8/9 gap, but that might be all you can use him for. Watt has those elite traits, but too many questions and projections. Barnett has a very good chance at being a LDE only

The Pats may win the next two Super Bowls but their offseason is not for a team building towards the future. That is a fact. The Patriots operated like a team with a shrinking window this offseason...that is a fact.

Anyone who says the Patriots are going to suck as long as Belichick and Brady are on their side are kidding themselves.

Why even post on this board if you're just going to bash your team? I said the Patriots are operating like a team facing a closing window and you somehow find a way to call me out and bash the Cowboys while at it. I stated a fact...there are much better things to do on a Thursday evening than call out someone for stating facts.

Let that sink in.

Calm down little fella. Wasn't calling you out or bashing the Cowboys. Stating facts isn't bashing the team. Oh, but I forget if you don't bash other teams you're not a real fan. Whatever dude. My point was, stop being typical about hating on other teams when we've done nothing. But I will call you out on this. You have ZERO idea what you're talking about as far as them not building for the future with this off season. Brady is playing for at least three more seasons. After that, They have a guy sitting who would probably start on at least 25 other teams. No difference in how they approached this off season and any other off season.

Who do they have that would start on 25 teams?

The guy that will be a free agent after this year?

What 25 teams exactly? I can easily name 15 off the top of my head he wouldn't start for.

No difference in this off season and any others?

Hmm...maybe I'm wrong but I can't remember the Patriots trading away multiple premium draft picks in an offseason or shelling out big, long contracts on free agents.

The Patriots aren't building for future...they're building for the next 3 years, I don't see why that's debatable. I remember the Pats as always having tons of picks...when you have the oldest starting QB in the league and one of the oldest coaches...what is a draft pick? Get a veteran...I credit them for that. I am only stating a fact...they're not a team building for the future.

Can't wait to see the rest of Brady's career or can't wait till they're done? Lol

Yeah this past offseason was a very "un-Patriots"offseason. They were very aggressive with little regard for the future. It seems like Belichick has made the decision that he goes when Brady goes.

They could be the first team to win 3 straight Super Bowls(hope not) but they will fall back to reality quick in a couple years.

End of Brady haha. Especially if Belichek rides off into the sunset with him.

Brady could also snap his femur in the first game of the year or blow out a knee and that might be enough to end it all for his career. He's past due.

hoping for QB to get hurt before us is pathetic to me.
rather beat the crap out of him in the superbowl when they have to peel him off the turf and carried out on the stretcher.
unfortunately, jaylon does not have much help beyond lee and irving this year.

I don't see it as much as hoping for an injury as facing realities.

Brady may seem super human but he is 40 years old. All it takes is one hit to the back for all of "I'm playing until I'm 45" talk to cease.

that can apply to any QB in the league.

Taco Charlton was rated above Harris and Takk by most sites before the Draft. That said apparently Dallas liked all three about the same.

Clearly no one knows but the size and athleticism point to a practical conclusion being "Kony Ealy esque"

the fact is dallas probably liked harris more and may have even liked takk more.
they did not trade for them because they needed to reload at DBs that they refuse to pay.

Yeah they'll just win 2-3 more Super Bowls in the meantime

I have a hard time believing the FO was willing to trade up in the teens for Harris or anyone for that matter (that would've taken our 2nd rd pick and probably more to accomplish).

Maybe it's payback for last year's draft when there was a report flying that the Ravens wanted to trade up a couple of spots to nab Zeke (who knows how true that was). Maybe they just wanted to leak something to stir some crap up.

Gosh. That must be a terrible thought for them and their fans.

I don't think they will but they could.

I was just making a point that the Patriots are loading up for their 2 year window with little regard for the future. I'm not sure why that is debatable.

Agree but Harris was the guy they wanted. I was watching at that time and you saw McClay having a pretty good conversation with Stephen and then Stephen with JJ...pure speculation but I believe Harris was the guy a top the DE board. I'm happy with Taco and if he turns out to be Tolbert/Jeffcoat then we got a good one.
