Niether McClain or lee is the long term answer. We will draft a LB in the first 3 rounds.

Hitchens played his best as the MIKE. Lee is the WILL. The SAM is the least valued LB, similar to 1T on the DL.

I don't see a LB drafted early unless it is an edge rusher type.

I would love McClain resigned. He played through a lot last year and had a great impact on a historically bad defense. I hope they reward him at least somewhat.

Talent and production is what I care about. You?

I care about both as well. I also care about availability, a category in which Lee has not measured up.

But, talent and production are not the debate. You said he was an All-Pro. He wasn't in any of his seasons as a Cowboy. Saying someone is an All-Pro is based on whether a player was selected, not based on a fanboy opinion that if he wasn't injured, he was an All-Pro.

I like Lee. I wish his head, instincts, football intelligence and desire were attached to a body capable of playing LB in the NFL without breaking down. Some people just don't have the physical wherewithal to stand up to the physical grind that the NFL presents. Sadly, it appears Sean Lee is one of those players.

I equate adding Lee to adding an All Pro talent to our linebacking core.

I don't care what's in his trophy case.

Let's hope he stays healthy.

just do not believe he can stand up to a full season of playing LB in the NFL. When it comes January he will be on IR or so banged up as to be virtually worthless.

You are so far off it's becoming sad. While Hitchens played very well wherever he lined up, he should not and will not be our middle linebacker. Also, I could almost guarantee that we will draft a middle linebacker in the first 4 rounds, especially if we do not resign the great McClain.

Lee's got 100% talent and is averaging about 50% production

I agree that long term replacements are needed though the FA signings may have bought them a year.... I'm holding out hope the Rolando "can't get right" McClain turns it around and gives us a few good years.

Don't take it so personally. Hitchens and Brinkley can cover the MIKE.

My hope, sometime in the next couple of days he's back.

I was actually excited to watch the defense when he was in the game. He changed the whole thing IMO.

He has his issues but the upside is too great to give up on.

Lee, Hitch' and McClain on the same field?? At least for a while, that's scary good! Throw in the Krack, and Crawford on another year, the new Demarcus?

Sean Lee is an unreliable football player - who has been miscast & misused as a MLB ..
He's too small - simple as that.

Oh and he's also eyebrow raisingly overpaid .

Remind me again what you're paying Victor Cruz? LOL

Eberflus was talking up Kendricks at his pro day, I think they are looking for a LB early.

Lee is one of the best defensive players in the league when he's healthy.

This isn't debatable, numbers show it; film shows it. Another player being disrespected because fans have more hatred in their veins than actual fandom.

Agreed. Lee is not reliable and we do not have the same LB depth as even a year ago. While the Brinkley and Gachkar signing were okay cheap depth acquisitions, we do not want either being forced to start. Right now, as scary as it sounds, Hitchens is our most reliable LB.

It is not about disrespect. I don't think anyone does not respect his ability. His reliability is what is being questioned and rightfully so.

If DAL signed Jasper Brinkley for 2 years at $6MM; Rolando McClain should be insulted with a $750,000 offer. Offer a fair yet cheap contract - 2 years and $8MM. He is worth $15MM for 2 years.....

I agree about that, even worn down McClain last year is better than Brinkley on his best day. I do not blame him for being a bit miffed, but the Cowboys were counting on his "loyalty" for being accepted off the scrap heap. That said, I cannot blame the Cowboys either.
