Report: Cowboys release UDFA Jason Neill, sign DE Zach Wood

The Dallas Cowboys made a small adjustment to their roster on Tuesday.

According to David Helman of DallasCowboys.com, the 'Boys released undrafted free agent defensive end Jason Neill and signed former SMU defensive end Zach Wood. The move comes on the same day as the start of OTAs.

The Cowboys were thought to have found a hidden gem with Neill, the former UTSA standout. In his senior year with the Roadrunners, the defensive end collected 56 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks. And during the fourth quarter, he was one of the most productive pass rushers in the nation. Neill went through Cowboys rookie minicamp and workouts, but unfortunately his time with the 'Boys has come to an end.

No clue who either is, but Wood is a bigger DE. 6'3, 282lbs, compared to Neill at 6'2, 260lb.

Wonder if they brought Wood in for his LS ability as a JIC?

One of those players I was hoping might be a find. Just continues to show how hard it is to figure out what UDFAs will shine, if any. For that matter, it's hard to project success with any rookie.
