Bad news for #Bama OT Cyrus Kouandjio. I’m told several teams have failed him on his physical. Arthritic knee from failed surgery. “Ugly.”

I liked him a lot going into last season but his stock had steadily declined. Would have been nice to have 4 tackles go in the top 15 though.

Some kind of arthritic knee condition. Depending on what the doctors said, I would be a buyer if he fell far enough.

Eh, I don't know. I don't want to invest a first round pick, or even a high draft pick, on a guy who figures to have a short career.

It's one of those deals where as a fan you have no idea what to think. I'm no doctor.

It may be one of those Jesse Williams things where he goes from 1st round to 5th if it's bad enough.

He's way stiffer than a possible 1st round tackle should be. Maybe it's the knee, I don't know, but I wouldn't have touched him at 16 prior to this news.

Good point.

Might be something about Alabama, because I have read that Mosley also has similar longevity concerns, no specifics though.

He also cannot play left tackle in the NFL and he is too big for a guard. He would have to cope with switching sides to the right side as well.

Too bad. He was someone I was hoping would go before us, though it was probably not happening.

I think he would be good at OG. Leonard Davis was 6'6, Gurode about 6'5-1/2, Kevin Gogan 6'7.

Eddie Lacy said recently that Saban has a policy where if you sit out an injury in practice you lose your start. What a swell guy.

And yeah Kyle Long is 6'6" so unless we draft baby Johnny F. Football I'm not worried about tall guards

That is not a lot different from what many old school coaches would do.

He's another Ronald Leary guy -- if he goes undrafted you bring him in. Otherwise, I wouldn't spend a pick on him unless the talent was really poor in the bottom of the draft.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Alabama left tackle Cyrus Kouandjio was classified as "failed medical" by some NFL teams because of concern over an arthritic knee condition.

The massive Kouandjio (6-7, 322) ran a 5.59 40-yard dash on Saturday, with a relatively poor 21 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press, as word began to leak out that his knee was a major concern.

He met with the media a day after most of the offensive linemen in attendance held press sessions, which can often signal a snag in the thorough medical evaluation. His arthritic knee is reportedly linked to a failed surgery.

"I didn't get enough medical stuff done my first day here because they had me do the medical after the orientation, which pushed my whole schedule back," Kouandjio said. "It kind of threw everything off."
