Report: Dolphins in talks with Eagles to trade for CB Byron Maxwell

The Miami Dolphins badly need help in the secondary, and it appears they may have their sights on a particular target. According to a report from NFL Network, the Dolphins are in talks with the Eagles to trade for well-compensated cornerback Byron Maxwell.
The report did not specify what the price for Maxwell's services would be, but no matter what it is, this would be a pretty crazy deal in more ways than one. Maxwell signed a six-year, $63 million pact that contained $25 million in guarantees with the Eagles just last year. Chip Kelly -- who signed Maxwell to the deal -- is no longer in town but one year is still extremely early to give up on a big-ticket free agent signing. (Whether Maxwell should have gotten such a huge deal in the first place is another debate, but it already happened so we won't have it.)

How can the Dolphins afford Maxwell's salary?

Philly radio is already spinning it as a great move.

It is. Cleared that awful contract in Maxwell, and Alonso is no sure bet at being the player he could of been coming out of the draft post injury

By letting go talented players in Miller, Vernon(once someone gives him a big deal) and restructuring terrible contracts like Suhs'.

This does make it seem like the Eagles are trying to hit "reset" on last season's offseason which may give more credentials to the Murray stories.

Miami helped Eagles big big time. How the hell did Dolphins became so clueless? Maxwell an overrated CB with a huge contract and Alonso missed 21 games out of last 32. Eagles became better instantly. Stupid Dolphins.

Eagles are still responsible on their cap for the 22 + million they paid him last season in bonuses and salary.

Miami only takes on 3 million guaranteed left in 2017 and the salaries of 8.5, 10, 9.75, 9.5, 10.5 and some roster bonuses if they keep him.

I think they are swapping their first round draft slots also. That means the eagles will have the 8th pick in the draft.
